I travelled through Las Alpujarras a few years ago in a bus that went through Pampaneira and Bubion to Capileira - it was absolutely gorgeous, and it was the most terrifying ride I've ever been on. It is a wonderful region to visit, but I (for one) would not want to drive those roads. If you do, please remember that many of the turns are blind and that busses must cross out of their lanes to make the turns. Hope that helps!
