Aletsch hiking
I would be spending a day in the Aletsch area hiking for a day.
While the Bettmerhorn to Rideralp hike seems reasonable( have booked a hotel in Riederalp), I am not sure if it has the best views. Would I get views like this one, or do I need to get around Eggishorn for the best views.

Also, is the Eggishorn-Bettmerhorn-Rideralp doable? It seems to be tough, but not really dangerous.

My profile photo was taken a few years go near Marjelensee. If you have looked at the hiking map of the area, you might have seen it.
The photo you posted, I cannote say exactly where it was taken but you don't need to be at Eggisorn, to see such. You can have similar views all the time hiking between Rideralp and Eggishorn.
> Eggishorn-Bettmerhorn-Rideralp doable?
Most difficult part is between Eggishorn and Bettmerhorn. There sign is painted in white/blue ( harder routes than white/red) is The rest is a long walk with great view all through but much easier, just walks up and down ( mostly down from Bettmerhorn on) . I have walked Eggishorn-Bettmerhorn-Bettmeralp, Rideralp - (walk by Aletsch ) - Bettmeralp and Rideralp - (walk by Aletsch ) Marjelensee - Tälligrat - Fischeralp or Bettmeralp (the longest, about 7-hour walk) a few times each. I have not done Eggishorn-Bettmerhorn-Rideralp at one time but I would say that would take about 4 hours or maybe 5 hours with not much rush. I tend to stop and take photos a lot so I might need more time than that actually. When you have a whole day I can imagine that's quite doable. But of course you need to consider the time to get to Eggishorn, by train and cablecar in the morning. Depends where you start in the morning. It is a good thing you have your hotel in Rideralp for the night. If you are doing this, you can quickly walk up to the TOP of Bettermerhorn (where a cross is located), then come back to the cablecar station area and start your way toward Bettmerhorn.

I meant, you might have seen the name of the lake Marjelensee. There you can touch the Aletsch Glacier and even walk a little bit on it.
Just one thing, about the photo you posted, when you walk down from Bettmerhorn toward Rideralp, you walk sort of with you back to that view. When you wakl up from Rideralp to the opposite direction, then the view is always in front of you. Maybe not that important but just for info.

Thanks a lot, so the first night I stay at Fiesch, which is why I can start from either Eggishorn or Bettmerhorn, both are closeby.
Now I need to choose between Eggishorn-Marjelensee-Fiescheralp and Bettmerhorn-Riederalp.
Any variations on the Bettmerhorn-Riederalp that can give me some different views? I'm trying to locate different lakes. Maybe I could visit the Bettmersee while going up to Bettmerhorn(before I get on the final cable car)?

Correction, i meant to say top of Eggishorn (although there is a cross at Bettmerhorn too)
If you are staying overnight in Fiesch, then you will walk to Fiesh cablecar station for Eggishorn. You cannot start from Bettmerhorn. For that you need to get to Betten first by train, then to Bettmeralp by cablecar.
When are you doing this? I would do, Fiesch - Eggishorn - Bettmerhorn - Moosfluh - Riederfurka. I said 4 or 5 hours but 5-6hours will be more like it.

-most of the Eggishorn0Bettmerhorn would be a descent right ?
No, if you do, from eggishorn to bettmerhorn to riederalp, the descent starts from bettmerhorn. From eggishorn, after a bit of descent, it will be quite a steep hike up. And up there the ground is nothing like the photo you posted. It's all rocks and the walk there is relatively rough. Perhaps you can find images of that route by googling.
