Do I need to take the specific bus or do they all stop there?

Take the RER B from CDG to St. Michel. You'll be practically in front of your hotel when you reach street level at St. Michel.

I agree with Michael. The Cars Air France bus drives non-stop between CdG and Gare de Lyon before proceeding on to Montparnasse. Well, stop-and-go, anyhow, when traffic is snarled, but you can't get off. The station is at least four kilometres from your hotel address while the RER B stops practically at your door (St-Michel station). Note that the commuter train is 9.50€ while the bus is 17€, plus substantial taxi fare.

There are AF buses from CDG to ORY, Gare de Lyon and Port Maillot/Etoile. If you do take the bus, be careful about which you board.

If you are along and this is your first time in Paris, there is nothing wrong with taking the bus and using a taxi. Two people can probably save money by taking a taxi from the airport. Take the RER back to the airport when you are less tired and fully understand the system, which admittedly is not overly difficult.

I checked the Supershuttle site that Robert2533 listed...it would be 43 Euro for the 2 of us in shared shuttle. I used something similar in Amsterdam from airport to hotel and it was fine.
I had just been reading on here that taking AF bus was better than RER but maybe that was because the other poster had to make a connection with RER...don't remember...and everyone was saying do it the easy way and just take the AF bus.

We won't be returning to CDG from Paris so I only need to go one-way.
I know we will be tired after a long flight from SFO so I want the EASIEST & LESS stressful way to get to the hotel. If a taxi is best then that's what we'll do.
FWIW, we're seniors, first time to Paris, and need "easy"

What's your suggestion?

Yes, taxi is always the EASIEST (and more reliable than a shuttle).

Anyone have an approximate cost for the taxi to St Severin Hotel? Hopefully, less than 100 Euro.

Depending on time of day should be 50-60 euros.

I'd take the RER if I were going where you were, also. The other post was because they were specifically going to Gare de Lyon, which is where the AF bus goes, and they had to transfer on the RER to get there. You can go direct to St Michel without transferring. Yes, I do like the AF bus better than the RER itself, but not enough to take it and then a taxi, in your case, given where you are going.

However, obviously a taxi is the easiest, of course. And spread over 2 people, its cost isn't that bad. And a shuttle can be stressful, also -- I just booked Bluvan shuttle from ORY into Paris last summer, to try it out, and it never showed up. So I spent about an hour of my time waiting for them, several phone calls, worrying about whether I was at the right place, etc. And then I had to get into Paris by my backup plan anyway (I know the methods well, so I did have a backup plan), which was the AF bus, then metro. They did refund my money, actually, after I wrote an email complaining and giving details, but they never explained why they just didn't show up.

So I wouldn't choose a shuttle for a possible stressfree experience.

If you wait and pay for AF when you board the bus, does it have to be in cash?

no, they take credit cards, including Visa and Amex. YOu don't really save much by paying online in advance, so if you aren't sure, you can just wait until you are there.

I've taken the AF bus and can recommend it. Nothing special, you can snooze or look out the window at street level and see a slice of "real" life once it gets past the industrial outlying areas into city streets. Way more comfortable than the RER B with all its stops and crowdedness at seemingly unpredictable times, and way cheaper than a cab.

Correct if only one person is traveling. If there are two people traveling and the AF Bus does not reach your final destination, there may be no clear cost advantage taking the AF Bus. For three or more people, the AF Bus will cost from more to much more than will a taxi.

OK, I took the AF Bus into the City, and i believe the stop was Galleries de Lafayette. THEN I took a taxi to the same neighborhood, in fact the flat was on Severin was 5 E's. Easy Peasy and way less than shuttles or a full taxi for just me, I was going solo...and it was 6:30 am. I found an open patisserie...had coffee and my first Pan au Chocolat... and watched Paris wake up!

I didn't want to hoist my small bag around the RER B either.

None of the AF bus routes would take you near Galeries Lafayette. Perhaps you took the Roissy Bus to Opera?

Op's second post corrects passengers to two. That and other info indicate a taxi makes the most sense, followed by RER and last place to AF bus, given her final destination.
