Advance Tickets available for Galleria Dell'Accademia in Florence?

I am taking my grandson (15 yrs.) to Italy. We will be in Florence only (sadly) for 8 hours. Is it possible to arrange for advance tickets for the Galleria Dell'Accademia? (We are getting off the train from Rome to Florence, specifically to see Michelangelo's statue of David.)

Diane,

Please also check out the Museum of Science (Museo di Storia della Scienza- Piazza dei Giudici 1). We took our son last yr and it contains Galileo’s telescopes, globes, instruments he used to measure the distance between planet, the lens that was used in which he discovered the moons of Jupiter…even the bone of his index finger! It's right on the river. You both will love it.

I have used the following for Accademia (and Uffizi) tickets
www.waf.it/museires.htm.
At the museum, walk past the long line to the special entrance for those with reservations, show them your printed reservation form

How far in advance should you reserve these tickets? We will be in Florenc at the beginning of October. Thanks for the help/advice!

The three websites I've checked for advance tickets to Galleria dell'Accademia charge nearly three times what the ticket to the museum actually costs!

We will be at the museum during the first week of October. Are non-reserved ticket lines still long during shoulder season?

Is this one of the sites you tried? This is the official site.

http://www.b-ticket.com/b%2Dticket/u...Accademia.aspx

It looks like there might be a special exhibit until November 6 (Lorenzo Bartolini) that may be causing the price to be higher.

Tickets
Full price: € 6,50
Reduced : € 3,25 (EU age 18-25)
In conjunction with the exhibit “Lorenzo Bartolini: il bello ideale e il bello naturale" full ticket price € 11.00, reduced € 5.50
Reservation cost
€ 4,00
