Adam Gopnik loses his phone in Paris
The New Yorker's long-time Paris correspondent writes of losing his iPhone at Gare du Nord in the BBC Magazine.

If you don't know his books, he writes of Paris the way Kerouac photographs it -- with realistic affection and a great eye. This piece is a starter.

Gopnik is also the all-purpose culture commentator at the New Yorker magazine, appearing about once a month to meditate on issues big and small. As this piece demonstrates, he can make something out of almost anything, something that is more than could be expected -- from how wolves trained mankind, to winter in Canada, to a comparison between Charles Darwin and Abraham Lincoln, to what's for dinner. And, of course, the book Paris Over the Moon, now almost two decades old, but still a charming view of an outsider inside a Paris neighbourhood, with his little kids. http://www.adamgopnik.com/
