Abersee (near St Gilgen) - any comments?

We have been looking to stay at St Gilgen but have not found suitable accommodation available for our dates in July. Instead we are looking to stay at Abersee - I gather very close to St Gilgen - at Haus Weissenbacher, http://www.haus-weissenbacher.at/index_eng.htm . We plan to stay in their 2 bedroom apartment with one member of our party staying in a room in the guesthouse.
Has anyone stayed here before? Any comments about Abersee in general?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that Abersee is the original name of the lake which is better known as the Wolfgangsee, which St Gilgen and St Wolfgang are on. I think the village of Abersee was one of the smaller places around the lake.

Sure, it is on the same lake just a few miles down from St. Gilgen. I have not stayed at Abersee, but the area is wonderful.

Thanks. We are going to this area because (a) we want to be close to Salzburg for sightseeing, and (b) the region is so highly praised by many Fodorites. Really looking forward to it and hoping the accommodation is good.

You have done a good job with it, keep it up!
