7-10 days in Italy
My friend and I are going to Italy for 7-10 days in mid August next year. We will be flying in from the US, then traveling around the country. After we are finished, I will be going to Regensburg, Germany and she will be flying back to the US. What are some suggested itineraries and places to visit? Also, can you estimate the cost of train tickets, etc?
(Rome is a must, Venice is an almost must, we are also wanting to spend 1-2 nights in cinque terre)
HELP!

You can find the estimated train tickets by going to trenitalia's website, putting in the cities (in Italian) and choosing some random dates. Most of the time you will be able to see the fares after that. Sometimes it doesn't let you.
Buy the tickets once you get there.

With 10 days, I suggest 4-5 nights Rome, 2 nights CT, 3-4 nights Venice. Every time you relocate you will spend at least a half a day in transit. If you only have 7 days, I suggest you split the time between only 2 places. I would not add any other places to visit.
