6 Weeks on $5,000

Hi, my friend and I are planning a European adventure for our senior trip, just the two of us. Is it possible to do 6 Major areas in 6 weeks on $5,000 each?
Our plans were
-Paris
-London
-Greece
-Florence
-Venice
-Spain
-Maybe Scotland
not in that order of course. We would be starting out of Germany where we have a place to stay for free. Flying into Stuttgart

Any tips would be helpful, what order to go to the destinations, if our budget is ok, good hotels (I'm kind of scared of hostels), etc. We've been to them all before, we just want to journey as adults on our own

$10,000 for 6 weeks would be rather difficult. That's only allowing $238/day (€180/day) for everything, even if you have somewhere to stay in Germany for free for a few days, unless you happen to find some very inexpensive places to stay and don't go out for lunch or dinner too often. Paris and London will be hard to fit into your schedule unless you stay at a hostel.

I traveled like that when I was in college, but not since then. We just rented a small two bedroom house in lower Normandy for €285/day. Our B&B in Rouen was only €125/night/room, off season. We could have found something cheaper, but then it would not have been as comfortable.

does your $5000 include airfares? If so -- ain't going to happen. Not w/ all the other travel you are building in. The more places you go the more expensive it is. Even if a railpass figures in the plan, the more countries the more a railpass costs. Plus the travel eats up a lot of your time.

What do you mean by 'Spain' -just Barcelona and/or Madrid, or several cities/areas? Same re 'Greece' - just Athens, or some of the islands.

Even w/o airfare, $800+ per week isn't very much for accommodations/food/sightseeing/transport.

I randomly went to hotels.com and checked Paris hotels for mid July. Quite a few come in at USD $80-90 night for two people. For example, a random choice, I know nothing about it:
http://en.appartcity.com/aparthotel-...-residence.htm

That place has a kitchenette, saving you lots on food.

So a week's lodging for two is ~$630, or $315 each, well below your $833 each weekly budget limit. Meaning you still have just over $500 for travel, dining, sites, etc. If you ate in markets and delis, stayed out of fine dining establishments, then it seems the food is possible. Maybe $150-200 each? You still have $300+ for travel and entrances to sites.

Don't forget free stuff than can eat up a lot time and enjoyment like strolling through a park or along the Seine.

Seems doable with some care, provided your initial $5000 each did not include international air. Good luck.

The issue here in my head is that you have chosen quite an array of scattered European countries which are not all easily accessible to/from each other with out flights/ very long train journeys with many MANY stop overs.

Also countries you have chosen would tend to be some of the more expensive european ones.... on that budget you should really be looking towards more eastern europe. Paris very expensive and if you don't like hostels you are in big BIG trouble.

Cheaper places to visit - Czech republic, poland, slovenia, slovackia, bulgaria, hungry
