4 Nights - Where to Go?
Hello,
My wife and I are looking to go SOMEWHERE in Italy. We have four nights in mid June that we want to spend somewhere in Italy, but are unsure. Actually, we are very sure of where we want to go, and unfortunately "All of Italy" probably isn't going to be possible in 4 nights. While doing the tourist thing in Rome would be nice, I think we want to do something romantic. Nothing too overly extravagant. Our goals are to see some gorgeous landscape and architecture, and eat some wonderful food. We are looking at Cinque Terre, but perhaps somewhere in Tuscany would be better?
Any advice on where you would go with your significant other would be greatly appreciated. I am sure we will have a wonderful time no matter where we go.
Thanks!
Ben

4 nights would be a bit much for me in 5 Terre. It's pretty and all, but how many days do you want to just look at pretty. BUT it depends on your personality and what you are trying to accomplish--if you want to just totally relax with little to do, then 5 Terre could be the place for you.

While there are a hundred possible answers to your question, my thought would be somewhere around Naples. Pick a place that suits you best, Naples for a more city bustling feel, Sorrento a smaller city, Positano for a quaint/chic beach town..... Any in the area would do. From there you can have romance, some culture, some history, beautiful views, great food, great people.... Wait, that describes almost anywhere in Italy!

Four days is a perfect amount of time for Venice. Depending on where you are coming from it is easier to reach than southern Italy. It is a great combination of a place with lots to see and a place to relax without a great amount of traveling around. And it is certainly romantic.

You don't say from where you're traveling, but for me, any short trip requires ease of travel. In Italy, I would definitely pick Venice. (there are non-stop flights from JFK)
>No car rental required like Tuscany
>It's a city, but very manageable
<very romantic
>easy day trips if you want to get out of the city-the outer islands of Murano, Burano, Torcello OR Verona OR do a Brenta Canal cruise to see Palladio Villas
>the Lido beach
My other choice would be flying into Nice (again non-stop from JFK) & perhaps driving along the coast either east to San Remo (have never been there) or stay in France in the hills above Nice ro Cannes.
