11 days in Europe, Paris incl. Where else?

Hi everyone. I will be honeymooning in Paris next April and was wondering if we should add another leg to the trip and visit either wider France or another city. We will spend one week in Paris and can add another 3 or 4 days. We are interested in history and architecture and not so much art lovers. Suggestions?

If it were me I would extend my trip a little more in France. From Paris to Strasbourg is less than 2 hours by TGV and you can explore a part of France that is completely different - architecturally and in many other ways - due to it's germanic heritage. There is plenty to explore in the area - Strasbourg itself (great cathedral with museum, a museum of domestic architecture.furnishings, petite france canal area, etc), Colmar (a very quaint town with a wonderful old town center) and a string of wine villages between the 2 - that you could easily explore by car - or even bus or bike if you prefer.

Also, in one direction you could stop and see Reims (a wonderful gothic) Cathedral and at least one of the champagne houses.

And Provence is great that time of year as well since the summer heat and tourist onslaught won't have really geared up yet. Easy TGC to Avignon and then rent a car there and explore-we love Uzes but there are tons of nice spots.

Or if you don't want to drive, another good choice is Bordeaux. It is really lovely, easily walkable and you can even take the drunk bus (as we call it) out for a tour of the nearby vineyards.

For history & architecture maybe Gourdon and the French Riviera. You'd want to fly home from Nice or Marseilles rather than backtracking to Paris.

You could fly to Venice for a few days, then fly home from there. I think Venice the most romantic of cities, even more romantic than Paris. Since it's your honeymoon, you could splurge on a water taxi from the airport and arrive in style to your hotel. Then you can wander the back "streets" of Venice, dance to the orchestras at night in the Piazza San Marco, take a vaporetto to one of the islands in the lagoon.

Easyjet flies from Paris Orly. Orly is smaller than CDG and easier to get to.

I'd spend the whole time in Paris with perhaps a couple of day trips if you can tear yourselves away. Strasbourg is a fine idea either for a day trip or an overnight trip. I wouldn't fly to Venice or anywhere else as there are so many places to see near Paris.

I paired Venice and Paris one trip that worked nicely, but I had a little more time. With 11 days I'd probably just stick to Paris myself.
