10-Day Trip Planned..Need Recommendations
So after several postings on this forum, my daughter and I have set our plans. We will be flying into Berlin (2-2.5 days), travel to Prague (is Saxon-Switzerland best viewed by bus or train) for 2-2/5 days, brief stop in Cesky Krumlov on way to Salzburg (2-2.5 days), then train to fly out of Munich (unfortunately may only have 1 evening there, possibly no time). We will walk most places in each city (unless recs to take public transportation). Staying in hostels...recs? Good lunch and dinner spots in each city? Beer gardens?

trains for sure if going to Prague and not stopping off in Saxon Switzerland (where boats also run thru it)- but if taking trains thru to Prague sit on east side of train for by far the finest views in S Switzerland. Buy your train tickets far in advance to get discounted tickets -www.bahn.de/en for those involving Germany - www.seat61.com is now the definitive advice site for booking your own discounted tickets -in Germany and Czech-other good sources for info on European trains IMO www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com. Buses may be best C Krumlov to Linz, Austria then train to Salzburg.

10 days - is that 10 days (11 nights) on the ground in Europe or does the 10 days include your travel time? You are right that one night in a place is no time, it takes three nights in a place to get two full days. You say you have 2.5 days you in various places, but I expect you have 2 days after considering all of the travel time.
I highly recommend that you edit your itinerary so you have more time at each stop. More stops eats up time and money.

You may be on trains much of the time -great for folks like me who love trains but yes figure a half-day or more relocating hotels and riding trains.
I may cut out Salzburg and just do Berlin (huge city could use more time); Prague and Berlin -day tripping to Salzburg and Bavaria and also seeing this very nice city at least for a day.
