I'm curious what the French word or phrase for bubble-wrap is.
It's excellent for protecting a bottle of wine in a suitcase, but hard to explain knowing no French.

You might want to bring some of these with you.

Wine shops like Nicolas will generally give you the necessary protection free of charge if you ask for it.

Yes, why get it for free when you can pay money for it and bring it from another continent? Global warming does not exist.

I just wrap my wine bottles up in my clothes and pad the ends with more clothes and have never had a problem.

Maybe global warming exists because people expect free plastic.

There is no global warming. Global warming is a Chinese invention to hurt US industries.

I just received a package today. It had both styrofoam peanuts and bubble wrap. All in the trash now. I used to save bubble wrap for years until I realized that I had absolutely no use for it. (Like kwren, I have always rolled up fragile items in my clothes when traveling.)

Have you ever had an oily or red stainy fragile item break when it was wrapped in your clothes?

You didn't ask, but I prefer these to bubble wrap:

My reason is, if the bottle breaks, the bubble wrap won't contain the liquid, but a Wine Skin will.

That said, I don't usually use a Wine Skin, I just tuck the bottle into the center of the suitcase and surround it with dark clothing. Never had anything break.

Any "oily or red stainy" items are sealed in 2 or 3 ziplock bags before packing them. I'd think even a sky-is-falling Fordorite might realize most of us are at least that bright.

Quick note about ziplocs: if you wash and reuse them, as I do, be aware that they develop invisible holes and can therefore leak. I am sad to say that, because I hate throwing anything even remotely reusable away, but on my last trip I had a bottle of liquid vitamin supplement leak inside AND outside my ziploc. Most vexing.

A good point, NewB. Probably a good time to go for new. Save used for organizational purposes only.
