Norway 7day Eastern Carribean

Has anyone recently been on this cruise? How was it and do you have any recomendations on good or bad sidetrips. We have been to St John and St Thomas before, but not to St. Maarten.

We took this trip in Feb. The ship is older but they have all the amenities.
We were on the Norway Deck assigned the Windward dining room which was great. If your cabin is below this deck, you're in for a shock as those decks are grungey. St. Maartin is ok; you can take bus over to the French side. Norway's private island is a joke tho. If you're paying $800 pp for this it's worth it but not more than that. e-mail me if you want specifics.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We went right after the Big Multi-Million Dollar Referbishment. It was a JOKE! Where do I begin. It was probably fall 97, the ship is too big and deep to get into the ports so you must take a tender ship to the islands. Well, the seas were high and we never were able to get off the ship at the first port because the harbor master would not let the tender ship come out! Then since no one could get off the ship the captain decided to give out free rum punch, yea, get everybody drunk and they won't remember they couldn't get off the ship & missed the first island. But they wouldn't give anything else free to people who don't drink alcohol. At St. Thomas, the last island they figured they better let people off the ship so they sent the tenders out and 5 people go injured during the tendering. Enough said.
Next, the service and food were average.
We paid for an upper price range cabin and got a closet. The mattress was lumpy and worn out, there was no chair or table in the room, the shower curtain was torn on the bottom and ragged, the plumbing leaked. And to top it off the last night we smelled natural gas in our cabin so we called the steward who got his boss and NO ONE on that ship knew what we were talking about.
We went the next day to the purser and told them of our dissatisfaction and they said oh,well. We wrote letters to the home office and were ignored. They had our money and they did not care if we were pleased or not.
Since that experience we have been on Celebrity Cruises twice and highly recommend them. We are not the partying type and we enjoy the peace and quiet of these ships and it is an exellent value for the average person, wonderful food and service. You can get a much nicer cruise vacation for the same money that you would pay for the Norway. Keep searching. Thank you.

Never Book on the Norway! It is a relic, not a cruise ship. Awful rooms at all catagories. The food and service goes hand and hand. The staff is rude. We booked an outside deluxe stateroom...It was so bad...(smelled of sewer gas, had exposed wireing, one light that worked, blood stains on the bedding and no mirror in room).
We had to upgrade to a suite at the cost of $700.00 each (12 day cruise) in order to get to an acceptable room. I wanted to get off the ship at the next port and fly home....but my husband made me stay and endure. No more Norway or NCL for this girl!
Say goodbye to the Norway. It is leaving the U.S. and is going to NCL's parent company Star Cruises.

Not too soon for a lot of people. Too bad, it was a beautiful ship. It just needs proper maintenance.

Paul
