millinium
My wife and I are booked on the Millinium for the Dec. 2 cruise. I have us a guaranty of a 2B cabin for a great rate of $1,650 for both of us. My question or concern is all the negative talk about the service on board and the problems with the ship. This trip is for our 10th wedding anniversary and will be a surprise for my wife. We have sailed on NCL on four previous times and have enjoyed our cruise experience. Since this is for a special occasion, I thought that we might try Princess, HAL or Celebrity since they are suppose to be nicer lines. I would like to get some reassurance that I have made the right choice. Thanks for your help.

Tracy- we're going on the Millie in Nov.
After asking questions on various cruise boards that are much busier than this one, I am not paranoid about the Millie anymore as the mechanical problems have been fixxed- As far as service, I am expecting the same as usual Celebrity wonderful service that I've had in the past--this is our 4 th Celebrity cruise ( we did one last Thanksgiving on the Century and it was GREAT!) In fact, for a LARGE cruise ship line, Celebrity is my favorite.
Your price is very good- I suspect due to the neg.publicity and abundance of other ships out , that that is the reason prices came down. I originally booked an outside cabin w/balcony in March and price came down $700! Too good to pass up-even if I am doing my own air!

We are also booked on the Millennium for this fall. The prices have dropped considerably in the last few months. We are in a chosen category 1A cabin for around $100.00 more. We don't like guarantees because you never know where you will end up on the ship! We want to know what is above us, we like to sleep at night.
But the Millennium is a wonderful ship, I have several friends who have sailed on her, you will have a wonderful time, you made the right choice.
Cruiser

Tracy,
We sailed on the Millinium in October of 2000. We took a 14 cruise to the Med and it was wonderful. The service was great, the entertainment wonderful. It is something I will never forget. Whatever problems that the ship had were very minimal and they did nothing to hamper the cruise experience. I would go on another cruise on the Millienium in a heartbeat. Enjoy and happy anniversary.

To xxx, no it has been sailing since 2000.

We were on the Millenium for a 12 day Med. cruise in June. It was our first cruise and we loved it. We found almost everything to be great. The food was very good, the ship is beautiful, and well maintained, service was very good and we had a a great time. There are always uncrowded areas and even with a full complement of passengers we never experienced lines or crowds.

The only problem we had was that they delivered a birthday gift on the wrong day and when we tried to get it sorted out, the supervisor in charge of guest relations was "unavailable". Maybe she had left the building. When the person behind us in line who had an appointment wanted to speak to her, she was miraculously back in her office.

So if you want any gifts sent to your wife or anything like that you may have to come on a bit strong about the actual date you want it.

But that was a minor detail in comparison with everything else and I would not hesitate to recommend the Millenium.

Thanks for the info, Lisa.
I'm cruising on the Millenium next April with my husband & the whole rest of my family. It'll be my first cruise & have been researching non-stop about what to expect. Looks like we'll be having a nice relaxing vacation. Just curious..what was the average age on the ship?
