Has Carnival really changed?

A lot of you hate Carnival and some of you have said that Carnival is better now than it was ten years ago. Which is it--good or bad? What do you mean when you say it is a "party ship" ?

We have, in the last three years, cruised on Imagination, Destiny, Tropicale, Fantasy, Sensation, and Jubilee. We have never had a bad cruise. The only down time was when we had a Riviera deck cabin on Fantasy, my daughter got sick, the phone didn't work, and no crew in sight....in the middle of the night.

The ships have a neon decor, lots of kids...especially at spring break and other school holidays....but that is why we take our kids on Carnival and go on HAL, RCL, Princess by ourselves.

Food has been great. Better by far than RCL. As the age of the average Carnival passenger is younger than the 45 plus on the other lines, there is more party atmosphere created by the passengers. There is less interest in formal dress, but no one cares.

The rest of the grumppy people who will respond after me shouldn't go on Carnival anyway. They'll just ruin our cruise.

As long as the majority of the American Public buys price only, then Carnival will have a market. Carnival is a substandard cruise line specializing in "we give you alcohol (for a price) and leave us alone" service. If you want a boat, mediocre food, and no service, sail Carnival.

If you want a well maintained ship, excellent food, and bar none service, look elseware.

Remember Joe..where there's smoke, there's fire and Carnival is blazing.

Just in case the Carnival bashers have failed to tell you: (from the website)

Carnival Corporation, including its consolidated subsidiaries, is a multiple-night cruise company. The Company offers a broad range of cruise brands serving the contemporary cruise sector of the vacation market through Carnival Cruise Lines and Costa; the premium cruise sector through Holland America Line; and the luxury cruise sector through Cunard Line, Seabourn Cruise Line and Windstar Cruises. In addition to its cruise operations, the Company operates a tour business, through Holland America Line-Westours, Inc., which markets sightseeing tours both separately and as a part of its cruise/tour packages.

We all know you work for CCL John G. You have the exact same post on a number of other CCL related threads. Nice try though.

I work for a university running their IT training program, not CCL. As my posts have said, I have cruised CCL, RCL, HAL, and Princess. I simply am pointing out that CCL and HAL etc etc are all owned by the same company. Overlooked by people who choose to bash CCL.
It is amazing how many people that have never cruised Carnival have so many negative things to say about the line. Also how many people just generalize without stating any occurences.

Paul

It is also amazing that those of us that have had the misfortune of cruising CCL, you still dismiss as pessimists.

Face it Paul. You and a small group like CCL. Where the rest of us after being sucked in by the hype vow never to return again.

Carnival isn't any better the others are just getting worse, i.e. RCCL. They have been trying to catch up to #13 so long they finally have and it just makes CCL look better.

I also don't think I need to dredge up old memories of a horrible trip to qualify that I did not enjoy my experiences with them.

I would have thought you learned your lesson with the episode that just happened previously with people attacking you. You just don't learn do you. Most people don't like CCL because of their discourteous staff. Paul just stop, just stop.

Yes, Joe, there are lots of Carnival haters on these boards. I'm sure there are far more that have had wonderful cruises with Carnival but you know that unhappy people yell much louder than happy ones. We have cruised a lot (Princess, RCCL, Celebrity, and Carnival) and have excellent cruises on Carnival. We do not drink much and have never seen any of the wild action that the other posters refer to. We've been on Spring Break cruises on Carnival but haven't seen teens out of line. Happy, a bit loud, and having a great time but nothing that would not be appropriate. Some people do drink too much and aren't great to be around. The worst we encountered was once on Princess and the people were middle-aged or older. The food on Carnival had been good but not s good as Celebrity. The entertainment has been good too. The ships I am familiar with are Victory, Imagination, and Fascination. I understand that some of the older ones are in need of a make-over.

Stop it children. We don't need another string of 100 responses of "he said-she said". This is what happens when sites don't screen for real return email addresses. If you don't sign em, don't send em....and don't says it's because you're worried about spamming, you're just not man (or woman) enough to stand up for what you believe!

Adam please don't let on to the public about your ignorance concerning today's technology. With a program called winfax and another subroutine I could hit you with 30,000 e mails in one day.

I am not vindicative like some people on this web site and many others. So I choose not to use my knowledge to harm people like you. Others are not so kind.
Please think before you post a comment like that.
