Farewell Seabourn Goddess

The best cruise yatchs in the industry have been sold to a Norwegian concern. (Seabourn founders). To everyone concerned with the Goddess' good luck and thanks for the best cruising the world can offer.
Yes, Seabourn is struggling to maintain profitability amidst stiff price competition in the luxury sector.

The Sea Goddess' were wonderful ships and beautiful yachts.

You may have hope .... both ships will undergo major refurbishment in the spring of 2002.

The new owners will sail them as either a charter or individual bookings. The prices will be lower than the Seabourn fares.

The ships are being marketed by North Star Tours 1-800-431-1511. Give them a call and see what's up.

Good luck,

Paul

My husband and I had decided on a Greek Isles Goddess cruise next June when I heard the news of the sale. We particularly wanted this ship because of the combination of luxury and casual dress; what would other options be? I'm even wondering if we should consider one of the other Seabourn ships or Silversea and just dine in our cabin on the black-tie nights...

All suggestions gratefully received!
Hi Lynn,

the latest news is that the new owners will be marketing the ships for individual bookings.

AS for the upscale lines such as Crystal, Cunard, Silversea and Seabourn you will have to dine in your cabin most every night since they are very dressy ships.

Possibly that is what you want since you wish "quiet." Just sit in your cabin and watch the sea go by.

I believe you should look into a private cottage resort where time moves very slowly.

Paul

We were fortunate to do 5 cruises on the Sea Goddess 1 and 2. Great small ships, great staff. We will miss them.

Lynn....My Mother and I have cruised Seabourn--- 1 Legend-4 Pride--in the last 15 months! One cruise we had 102 pass.'s and we just returned from the "Pride Crossing"....we had 90 pass.'s. As to dressing for dinner the Veranda dinning room on the Pride is the same food as the main dining room, but the dress is informal! The dining, of course, is fabulous and elegant, but folks do not need to dress. And also, room service is brought course by course....Most nights only jackets are required....on a 7 day cruise there are only 2 formal nights....the Veranda has "special nights"....Surf and Turf, etc., etc......I think you would enjoy either the Legend or the Pride. We love both! And the guests are wonderful! I've made many, many friends on Seabourn "triplet ships!"
