Emergency on Sovereign of the Seas June 7th

I sailed on the Sovereign June 7th. My cabinmate had way too much alcohol and flipped out and was removed from the ship in Nassau. I had to call 911 and I was very impressed with the efficient and professional manner in which this incident was handled. I knew this person from work and thought it would be a good trip. Guess when you spend 24/7 with a person they show their true colors.
I know in past posts some bashing has been done on Royal and in particular this ship, but in all honesty, its a different thing to complain about food being cold or whatever, but in this emergency, Royal came through with flying colors.
And aside from that incident, the ship was very clean, food very good. On just those merits, I would definitely sail with Royal again, but especially after seeing how they can handle emergencies.

Hey D, Who served him all the booze. Unless your friend snuck the booze in himself RCCL should be berated not complimented. If they served him the booze they created the emergency of course they should handle it.

Unless there is more to this story than you posted I would say that RCCL acted and reacted in their typical fashion. Make as much money as possible at someone elses expense and worry about the consequences later

What, pray tell is commendable about that?

Paul:

Hello, honesty vs. negativity. This is honesty. I meant what I said. Now "D" never answered ONE question.

Paul...you surely don't have the answers to these questions too...do you?

Now Paul, I have never found you to be as many others have. For cryin' out loud this is JUST the INTERNET but,...
Paul, DON'T BLOW IT with me...ok? You having the REAL answers to these questions is crossing the line with me unless you were right there in that cabin, up close and personal...I mean it!
( Paul, do not take any of this seriously...do your thing!)(smile)

Happy Travels
Oaktown

What negativity towards poster? The negativity is directed towards RCCL and the idiot that poisoned theirself. Boy can you misinterpret something. Cruise lines like this tend to peddle booze at a high rate. For what reason I do not know. Maybe for money, maybe because they think we need to be drunk to enjoy ourselves.

Bars on land can be held responsible for serving someone who is clearly over the limit. What makes cruise lines any different. Yes, the drinker is an adult and should have known better, but some just don't. That is why a bartender or server should graciously offer them some coffee or another beverage.

These cruise lines are so worried of offending one person that the piss off several others.

To D the poster my sympathy. To the cruise line, my contempt.
