Cruising with kids - best time of year
Will be cruising with a 16 and 11 year old boy at the end of the year. Just starting to make inquiries and information. I will probably do a Caribbean Cruise on RCCL or Carnival. I've heard that Christmas week is great and full of families with kids..Is Easter break the same or is more college kids on spring break??? Thanks
Hi Carol,

There are no spring-breakers on cruises. You will find tons of kids during the summer and during holiday periods. The children's programs are inundated and the programs are not run efficiently.

Princess or Celebrity would be your best bet.

Paul

I cruised on Voyager with my 7 year old during spring break. It was wonderful and the kids program was very well organized. I had to drag her out of there! I'm not sure how the program is for older kids, though. I'm booked on Explorer in a couple of weeks and can't wait. I don't have any experience on the other lines, but RCCL is great for kids, at lease the "mega" ships.

We just got back from a Christmas cruise on the new NCL Sun with my entire family, 6 of whom were teens and one child. The kids all loved it. They thought the teen club itself was "lame" but they did a lot of activities. We took walkie-talkies to keep track of them. They got to eat when they wanted to. NCL has a good kids program, and the Sun's multiple resturants were great. We kept running into our kids in the sushi resturants (what can I say, we're from CA) I would recommend NCL highly, I hear Carnival is great for kids too. I only did a 4 day cruise and it was most one big party. Also consider laying down ground rules first. We never thought to tell our kids no opposite sex friend in their cabins and got surprised gt No hanky-panky, but we put an end to it quickly-in retrospect I would have done the same thing at that age gt
Joyce
