Where to go for Nov. honeymoon

Help! We're getting married in November 2001 and looking for some sun...Are we likely to find any decent weather in the Carribean during the first week of November? Are some islands better than others at that time? I'd hate to spend a lot and then find it cloudy or rainy every day!

I am not positive on the weather aspect but Jamacia was our perfect honeymoon! Even if it rained, it was only for a short time and then the sun appreared. We love the Grand Lido's but have a hard time deciding whether Negril or Runaway Bay is nicer. Grand Lido Negril is a little more laid back with the most beautiful beach and sunsets while Grand Lido Braco (Runaway Bay) has more action.

Good Luck!

Aruba would be ideal for honeymoon. Awesome beaches, no safety issues, tons of things to do, great restaurants and some of the most romantic sunsets!

My husband and I have stayed in Aruba twice and found it to be a beautiful and safe place to be. The restaurants are plentiful and excellent. We stayed at the Bucuti which is in the low rise area and the place was wonderful. The staff is friendly and the beach is one of the most beautiful ones we've been too. From what I understand the weather in Aruba is beautiful all year long

I can tell you that November is still considered rainy season in St. Lucia (and perhaps other islands too). But even so, it showers for a few minutes and then it's sunny again. But if you're looking for constant sun, you might want to try someplace else. I know this isn't much help.

Kim, November will be good for the northern Caribbean. You will be past hurricane season and temperatures will be cooler. In the southern Caribbean Nov is the time of year for hurricanes coming out of the Gulf of Mexico. Generally, these track north and pass west of the islands, but these hurricanes often take a more erratic path. I recommend the Virgin Islands, either the USVI or the BVI. The USVI are generally highly developed, lots of multi-storied hotels, fairly crowded, but with many out-of-the-way small resorts that are excellent. My favorite is POint Pleasant on St. Thomas. I'm less familiar with St. John.
I prefer Tortola in the BVI above all other islands because the gov't has restricted resort building, keeps them relatively small, prohibits structures more than 3 stories, and altogether works hard to preserve the natural beauty of their islands and the quaint island charm.
People there are basically British by upbringing/leaning and both charming and friendly.
Top resorts are all relatively small. My favorites in order from outstanding to very good are Frenchman's Cay, Sugar Mill, and Ft. Recovery. These are all in the moderate price category. Packages imo are very nice. I have always elected to stay at Frenchman's due to what I consider the tremendous value there. In the luxury category, you have 3 choices: on Virgin Gorda there is Little Dix Bay and Biras Creek. The best of these, particularly for honeymooners is Biras due to it's very, very romantic setting and secluded nature. LDB is, imo, working off its reputation, and charging too much, but it still ranks very high on most peoples' list.
Another choice, good for honeymooners, is on Peter Island, and is Peter Island Resort. Great reputation.
Any of these places have tons of postings here. Just do a search on them at travel talk's home page.

I know that hurricanes miss us (FL) in October and head towards Bermuda. We thought of this when almost booking then too. Also, Rates are cheaper in November in Bermuda but water is cold! So think what you want to do...if it is water sports..think again.

There is a sale to the Caribbean going on right now. American started it but all the other airlines have joined in the fun. Do not delay! Yes it is hurrican season but hurricans are like snow storms, you never know if, when or where. In the North US we don't stop our lives just for winter. No matter what anyone says hurricans can hit any island any time in the late summer and fall.

Now, where to go. Again no place can guarantee sunshine everyday, rain is what makes these islands tropical. Go to Aruba and your chances are better but the island is dry and windy. I love Jamaica and there are great prices out there now. I also love Hawaii, Maui if you can don't mind the long flight. Let us know what you pick.
