wedding in caribbean questions

Looking for suggestions for getting away to an island, just the two of us, and getting married next year. Hoping for suggestions re: island with great beaches, medium prices, and little legal hassle to get "hitched". Hotels? Ideas? Thanks for your direction.

We went in Tortola this summer and we were looking for a place to get married. We went to Jost Van Dike for one week and it is the best place for a good honeymoon. It is not if you re looking for a big hotel or the champagne brunch. But, if you want to enjoy a beach for yourself !!!!

My husband (Canadian citizen) and I (American) were married in Jamaica in 1991 with no legal hassles. It was very easy. And Sandals Mo Bay helped with the details. We had one minor snag which wasn't the fault of the hotel, but other than that everything ran flawlessly. And we now have the best wedding pictures of any of our friends! I'd definitely recommend it, as well as Sandals.

My husband and I were married at Grand Lido in Negril, Jamaica. It's a deluxe, all-inclusive resort in the very best part of Jamacia. The wedding coordinator took care of every detail..minister, bouquets, cake, photos and video. Unlike Sandals, Grand Lido does not charge extra for weddings. We were married on their private yacht.

Another great place in Negril is Swept Away which is also all inclusive and does not charge extra for weddings. It's not as expensive as Grand Lido but very, very nice. I have friends who have stayed at both and prefer Swept Away because it's more casual. I also have friends who were married there and it was also perfect!

Feel free to e-mail me if you want more information. I can send you brochures on both if you want!

Getting married in the islands is very easy. Each island country has its own set of regulations. As the people before me have stated some of the resorts will arrange for everything and not charge. First pick an island, then go on line to find out what their requirements are regarding license etc. Then pick a hotel or resort where you want to stay and have the ceremony. A friend of mine was married at the Grand Lido and said it was very nice. It is best to do this well before your travel date. If you or your intended have been married before, or one of you lost a mate by death proof of those circumstances will be needed. You can go into more detail once you have decided on a location. Best of Luck.
