Sandals Antigua vs. St.Lucia- Prettier Island

We are looking to honeymoon at a Sandals resort in May. We are trying to decide between Antigua or the smaller club in St.Lucia. Which Island is prettier and overall more pleasent to visit. Also I here there is a long road trip to the St.Lucia resort from the airport. We are leaving from Newark. Thanks
Well, I can speak for only St. Lucia. We married and honeymooned there just 3 weeks ago. St. Lucia is BEAUTIFUL! That is true about the long trip to get there. We arrived at JFK at 10:00am and didn't arrive at our hotel until 10:30 that night. The drive from the airport to the hotel is about an hour and a half. If you just sit and absorb the sites during that long ride, it isn't too bad. If you can, try to get a flight that goes into Vigie airport, it's much closer than Hewannora. There is so much to do and see while in St. Lucia, a week is not enough. The St. Lucian people are very, very friendly. We didn't have any problems. I would suggest changing money before you start spending, you can lose with all the conversions! If you have any other questions, email me directly. Good luck with your decisions.

Hi, can't tell you about Antigua,as we've not been yet...I've heard it is a nice island but not as pretty and lush as St. Lucia, I beleive beaches are nicer in Antigua with the turquose water and light coloured sand.
I can tell you that St. Lucia is very beautiful and picturesque in our opinion. We stayed at Sandals Halcyon (the one you are mentioning) for our honeymoon September and had a terrific stay...we would like to return someday! The resort size is just right, although it is smaller than many of the other Sandals properties, but still a good size with all the amenities and restaurants you need (plus you have access to other Sandals which is a free 15 minute shuttle)...another bonus we found in staying at the smaller Sandals is the staff-perhaps because it is not so massive, but the staff was alot freindlier in our opinion that at the other Sandals in St. Lucia (we visited two different times and enjoyed it-but noticed the atmosphere was different between the 2 resorts). We really felt at home and the food at both resorts was just amazingly good! We really liked the selection of 3 (+5 restaurants at larger one) restaurants...lots of variety and we never had to try the same thing twice if we didn't want to!
If you would like to read my trip report on St. Lucia, just email me and I'll send it to you. Bye for now, Leslie.

Wesley,
We have been to both Sandals Antigua (Oct.97) and Sandals Halcyon (Sept.96). Both resorts are wonderful and it is hard to tell you which to choose. The food was much better in St. Lucia, the beach and water more beautiful in Antigua. The drive to the resort in St.Lucia was really not that bad, and it gives you a chance to see alot of the island. The people on both islands are just amazing and very very friendly. They are however quite shy and reserved and will not approach you first. St.Lucia is more mountainous than Antigua but both are very beautiful. So, if you are beach people, and want a beautiful resort, go to Antigua. If you are very concerned with food and into diving, go to St.Lucia. For value for your money I would have to say St. Lucia is better value as you have the option of visiting both resorts and you have golfing as well. Please feel free to email me if you have any more questions.
