Restaurants in Anguilla

Does anyone know the status of the restaurants at Cap? We ate at Pimms in August and would like to go again in Feb. Going to Blanchards. Where else? Staying at Cuisinart but like to eat off property for dinner.

The best meal we had in Anguilla was Veya, near Sandy Ground. (We also had great dinners at Deon's Overlook, The Barrel Stay, and Zara's.)

Cap Juluca has opened Pimms with a new chef and Kemia has become "Spice" and George's is now "Blue." You can go on www.capjuluca.com and see the various menus and hours. They also have a bar in the main building now.
We also like to go to Veya for their tasting menu with wine pairings. Straw Hat has moved to Frangipani on Meads Bay. Cove Castles has a new chef and is good, especially if you want an intimate setting. Hibernia is always good if you are in the mood for something different and don't mind a drive up to Island Harbor. Picante on the West End is a fun place for a casual meal. There are so many good restaurants it's hard to narrow it down.

Zara's was our favorite. Were there fancier restaurants and were they good, yes. But all in all we liked Zara's the best.

It will be fun to see the "new"
Cap Juluca restaurants--so Pimms
should be a winner. Just got back a few weeks ago, and Barrel Stay was great. If you have not tried Veya it gets good reviews, the owners have done a lovely job with the food and decor. ALR one of these days I will have to try the tasting menu. Covecastles has an
intimate small dining room, and yes
the new chef is very good, great
service.
When you are staying on the west end
I won't do the trip over to Island
Harbour at night--but I do enjoy Hibernia for lunch. Zara's does get
lots of raves! BTW we always have an excellent lunch at Cuisi. If you have not tried The Dune, as you know
its just up the beach from your hotel. Very nice lunch since Dale Carty (Tasty's) has taken over the kitchen. As ALR said there are many excellent choices.

Just returned and agree with many suggestions--Blanchards, Cote Mer, Veya, Barrel Stay, Picante, Straw Hat and not mentioned Koal Keel--all great!

I just returned from Anguilla about a month ago, and in addition to the excellent recommendations above, I would also suggest Oliver's and Trattoria Tramonto. Have fun!

Straw Hat is really good for breakfast/lunch/dinner right on the beach inside the Frangipani hotel. I noticed that many places on the island only open for dinner.

Oliver's is really nice and their oven baked stuffed chicken is supposed to be very good but you have to call 4 hours in advance in order to have it prepared.

On Fridays and Saturdays you can't miss B&D's barbecue with tables and chairs on someone's front yard up the street from Malliouhana just 8 dollars and delicious chicken/ ribs with rice, peas, french fries and pasta salad. One of the best ribs I've ever had.

I will second some of these suggestions. We love:
Blanchards
Picante
Olivers
Straw Hat
Barrel Stay
Wouldn't miss one of these for anything!

Big Jims BBQ at Blowing point. Feed 3 for about $10. B&D's BBQ feed 2 for about $10. Pizza restaurant in North Hill. Feed 3 for about $15. Breakfast at the Malliahouna great view, feed 3 for about $75. If you live in a part of the U.S. that has really good Mexican restaurants then Picante would probably be a disappointment. If you don't have good Mex. restaurants in your area then Picante would probably be good. Also, stuff yourself on some reasonably priced ice cream at the ice cream store next the Ashly's supermarket in the valley. Feeds 3 for about $15. The view isn't great, can get a little crowded, wine list does not exist, and depending on your economics status and your desire to flash $100 bills, you will either feel better or worse for saving the $200 USD that you would have spent on dinner and one of the restaurants that most other people prefer.

No matter what you do, dive into the cracked coconut at Blanchard's. And eat dessert first. <Sigh.....>

Ditto on the cracked coconut at Blanchards. We get it to go and top off the cheap meals listed above. When people asked us where we had dinner last night we just say "we dropped in to Blanchards"

Veya, Koal Keel, Straw Hat, Zara's, Nat's Place(Palm Grove), Barrel Stay, Smokey's, Ripple's Picante. E's Oven. DaVida is new and is getting great reviews, but I haven't been yet. Definitely do lunch at The Dune Preserve! Deon's Overlook joins Caprice, Cedar Grove and Altamer as greatly missed, now closed restaurants

ok, just returned from Anguilla, so wanted to give you an update on my 5 star restaurant review that I posted earlier on May 30. All meals are including any tip and drinks.

1. Fed 3 for breakfast at the Malli-$90.85. Still a great view.
2. Fed 5 at B&D's for $50. These were their dinners for $8-$9 each and we asked for extra stuff including the johnny cakes.
3. Fed 5 at Big Jims BBQ for $24.
4. Fed 3 at Roys for around $95
5. Fed 2 at the Straw Hat for $80
6. Fed 5 at the ice cream store next to Ashleys for $15
7. Fed 3 the Pizza at Corner Bar for $14.
8. Fed 5 at Un Amore for $90
9. Fed 3 the burgers(yum!) at Ferry Boat Inn for $46.
10. Fed 3 for breakfast at Geraurds for $35.
11. Fed 2 the ribs and johnny cakes on the beach at the boat races for $8
12. Fed 3 the croissants at the ice cream store for $3
13. Fed 3 Rotissiere chicken from Proctors for $10
14. Fed 9 burgers on the beach $12(only supplied the meat)

Sorry, nothing too glamorous to report. I think we once asked if the Ting was from the vineyards of St. Kitts or Jamaica, and if it was bottled last week or the week before. Oh, forgot to add, we fell in love with the 5L bottles of water from Alberts. Whew!! I am stuffed!
