Possible Carribean honeymoon locations?

I'm in my mid 20's & looking for a Carribean island to spend my honeymoon on next July. I am looking for beautiful white sand beaches, pool, spa services, and water sports. I would also like to rent a car to tour the island and enjoy delicious meals. What is your opinion of Cap Juluca in Anguilla? The second week of the honeymoon will be a week long Southern Carribean cruise. Any ideas, opinions, please help...

Amy,

Look into Le Sport on St. Lucia. We went last May during our honeymoon. It's an all-inclusive resort/spa. Two spa treatments a day, every water sport you can think of at your disposal, two pools, nice beach, great reef and great food at their premier restaurant (TAO).

It's by no means a Sandals. It's fairly low key with the average age about mid to high 30's. We are in our low 30's.

It's also a beautiful island. Very green and mountainous. If you're renting a car, the roads are not in great shape though.

Check out their website at www.lesport.com.lc

Please e-mail me if you have any questions.

Alex

To Alex-

What did you mean, It's by no means a Sandals? Is it better or worse? What's the difference? I ask because my husband and I are booked at Sandals Halcyon this Fall. It's our first experience with an AI, so we're trying to do lots of research to be sure it's what we want. Thanks.

To Amy-

Look at the BVI, Peter Island resort There's lots of info on Scubamom.com.
amy if you do an Anguilla or Cap Juluca search you will see many reports. It is a beautiful independant hotel, not a chain. It is easy to rent a car and Anguilla has lots of beaches and restaurants and beach bar dining to explore and enjoy. The island as you know is not lush and floral, but it has the sweetist people and fantastic beaches. Hey Michael J. Fox, Courtney Cox and others had their honeymoon at CJ and lots of regular quests! Good choice!

My opinion of Cap Juluca and Anguilla is that both are outstanding choices for a honeymoon, an anniversary or just any ol' occassion! It is really a breath-taking resort. I am looking forward to a return to Anguilla in December and this time at Cap! There isn't much to see when touring Anguilla but more lucious beaches, great islanders and terrific dining! Where does your cruise leave from as you might want to coordinate islands and air with the departure of the cruise? Since yoy will be cruising, I think the variety of eating on the economy and a pristine tranquil resort rather than an a/i with all kinds of activity and things to do would be just the kinda of balance that you need after a hectic wedding and before a cruise! You might not even want to leave!

Suzy,

My comment was not intended to indicate better or worse. Although I have never been to a Sandals, my comments come strictly from others who have been as well as from travel agents. I have heard from some people that the activities can be a bit "forced." Some of the Sandals resorts, I hear, have a heavy party atmosphere; however, I'm sure that each Sandals has its own unique qualities. Regarding the Sandals Halcyon - I don't know a thing about it.

We love to have a good time but, for our honeymoon, we were looking for a low-key atmosphere and every travel agent we spoke with mentioned that Sandals resorts did not fit that mold.

Hope that helps.

Message: Hi! I can certainly give you some info on Ladera. My boyfriend and I went two years ago and I haven’t stopped raving about it since. Ladera is expensive but we got this AMAZING deal which brought our room rate down to a steal.

You won’t need much luggage. We mostly went around sans clothes. Use your luggage space to bring booze and candles. Did I mention I went with my boyfriend? Coz it’s a great place for romance if you know what I mean. The room layout and view gave our humdrum sex life a much-needed shot in the you-know-what. (Gotta love those fake waterfalls which help camouflage). In fact, we thought we would rarely leave our room. But I got to be an expert on St. Lucia because being isolated in paradise got a bit tedious after a while. So we were mighty glad for the shuttles to the Hilton and Anse Chastanet. We were soon making good use of the land and water taxis coz there’s nothing around Ladera. (On the plus side, Ladera will charge the land taxi to your room but when we got the bill at checkout WHOA)

Ladera was great but don’t just take my word for it. I am sure others on this board will agree. But when all is said and done, the price of meals and taxis made it into an expensive trip (I am still paying for it).

I got my eyes peeled for my next vacation so if anybody has any suggestions of how to stay at a 5-star hotel for under $180 a night, let me know.

P.S. The odd bat may fly into your room at night. It kind of freaked me out but since I payed so much for the room I was determined not to let it bother me. And make sure you get a suite with a HEATED plunge pool, we nearly froze our assets off in ours.
