Hello,
I am curious what people think is the best beach in the caribbean.
My idea of a good beach would be soft white sand with little or no rocks and you can take long walks on. I have not been to that many caribbean beaches but the ones I have been to I would vote Punta Cana, DR. I would also vote (even though it is not in the caribbean) Cancun (before the hurricane)
So what do you guys think? What would you vote?

Trip Ideas
if you include Bermuda, then Bermuda for its pink beaches.
2nd place: St. Lucia
My absolute favorite Caribbean beach is Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos. It's a glorious 12 mile double crescent of white silky sand bordered by turquoise sea on one side and upscale low rise hotels on the other. I've loved it since the days when it was still considered undiscovered. Every year more and more luxury properties are built, but it's still my favorite place to do a beach stroll, people watch, and drop in an oceanfront restaurant for a refresher. It's safe, clean and BEAUTIFUL.
Barbuda has amazing, and empty, beach.
More accessible is Orient Beach in St. Martin and 7MB in negril.
grace bay beach - provo!!
Woodlands Beach in Montserrat. Black sand & no people.
My vote is Negril!!!
I used to think bigger was better....Until I set foot on the beaches of St John.
Solomon or Gibney gets my vote.
But the best answer is the one that your toes are digging into. Sand, Palms, and turquoise water.....nothing else matters.
favorite: Mahoe Bay, Virgin Gorda
Second favorite: Solomon Bay, St. John
Third favorite: Jalousie beach between the pitons, St. Lucia
Definitely, Grace Bay in Provo. The whitest sand and clearest water I have ever seen.
A little remote, but Loblolly Bay on Anegada
Rendezvous Bay in Anguilla!
I agree with the previous poster, Rendezvous is simply amazing, especially on a clear moonlit night. I also love Mega's Bay (STT), and Trunk Bay (STJ).
There is also wonderful little beach on the uninhabited Hans Lollick Island off of STT. There are wild donkeys walking up and down the beach at times.
1. Grace Bay, Provo, Turks and Caicos
2. Cayo Ensenachos, Cuba (actually 2 beaches - Playa Megano and Playa Ensenachos - both excellent)
3. Devil's Bay, Virgin Gorda
My vote would be Lighthouse Beach on the southern tip of Eleuthera. It's not easy to reach, and that is the reason that you will find it completely deserted and totally wonderful for skinnydipping. The water near shore is transparent, warm even in winter, and tranquil, thanks to a coral reef about 75 yards out. You can walk for at least a mile toward the east on the famous beige-pink powder sands without seeing a house or another person. There is plenty of shade to rest in along the way. On the westernmost tip, you can explore fantanstically carved rock formations and climb to the clifftop, where you will find a playground of a different sort-the old lighthouse (which you can explore), the remnants of the keeper's summer kitchen and cistern, and something very special, but poignant - a grave marker memorializing a 2-year-old who died in the late 1990s or early 2000s (can;'t quite recall) A path from the lighthouse leads out to Lighthouse Point, and from this clifftop vantage you can look directly down into the gorgeous coral that rings this end of the island (snorkeling in this area is exciting, as you will see large fish from the ocean as well as smaller coral-dwellers, but not for the faint-hearted or for weak swimmers). Just before you reach Lighthouse Beach, off to the right of the "road" (and I use this term loosely) is another tiny beach that invites you to step into the water and explore a grand mini-snorkleing site, where the coral is exposed at low tide, but covered by just enough water to float a kid at high. My advice would be to go now, as developers are eyeing an 800-acre upscale resort that would encompass much of this now-pristine area. Eleuthera is a treasure of the Bahamas.
Cancun and Playa del Carmen beaches are beautiful. The beach in front of Tulum Archaeological site is pristine and a dream come true!
The Mexican Caribbean!!! soft powdery sand and incredible tones of marine blue to brilliant turquoise...
Even though we live on the North Shore of Oahu close to the magnificent beaches of Sunset, Pipeline and Rocky Point, I don't believe there is a more beautiful beach than Frances Bay in St. John, the USVI.
best beaches in no particular order
Grace bay beach - T&C
Shoal Bay & Maundays bay - Anguilla
Seven mile beach - Grand Cayman
Eagle beach - Aruba
Trunk bay -ST John
ST Lucia is not known for it's beaches but rather for its lush interior & rainforest.
1) Anguilla
2) St. John
3) Bermuda
1. Harbour Island, Bahamas (technically not the Caribbean)
2. Buck Island, St. Croix USVI
3. Hawks Nest, ST. John, USVI
Hawksnest in St. John. I used to think I loved long beaches, but going there I realized that the combination of the lushness and backdrop with the beach was out of this world!
Agree with the comments regarding eleuthera. Have not been to lighthouse beach but our fav is club med and ten bay (at low tide) on the same island.
The Baths on Virgin Gorda because it is so unique and beautiful!
Shoal Bay Beach, Anguilla With a Guavaberry punch or two
While I admire the kinds of beaches that most people here are listing--because let's face it, they're utterly gorgeous--they're still not my favorite kind of beach to spend a full day on. Those honors go to beaches that are more intimate, sheltering coves with few people, lots of palm trees for natural shade, and one convivial beach bar for procuring conch fritters and rum punches. La Sagesse on Grenada takes top honors for me, with Industry Bay on Bequia not far behind. And for pure spectacular scenery, I've never seen a more stunning location and backdrop than Jalousie Beach on St. Lucia.
Too many to list in Antigua. We stop at many of them during Antigua Sailing Week and they're beautiful.
Church Bay in Bermuda, although not technically in the Caribbean, combines the best of sunbathing on it's pink sand beaches and snorkeling along the coral cliffs.
Pine Cay, Turks and Caicos
Winding Bay, Eleuthera
Grace Bay, Providenciales
7Mile/West Bay , Grand Cayman
Eagle Beach,Aruba
This is my list of good long beaches for walking in warm soft sand.
In no particular order:
Negril Beach
White Bay Beach - JVD
Smugglers Cove Beach - Tortola
Francis Bay Beach - STJ
Grace Bay Beach in T&C!! It is so beautiful, and the different colors of blues in the water were just breath taking.
For SURE Anguilla Beaches & ST.JOHN usvi ! never been to turks but they also look amazing!
Grace Bay beach in Turks and Caicos was by far the most beautiful beach that I have seen. We stayed close to the middle of the beach and took a long walk down each side of the beach from our hotel. It was gorgeous. The different colors of blue in the water was an amazing site to see.
1. Shoal Bay East - Anguilla
2. Little bay - Anguilla (you reach it by boat or climb down the cliffs)
3. Seven mile beach - Grand Cayman
4. Meads Bay - Anguilla
Shoal Bay Beach, Anguilla With a Guavaberry punch or two? Shoal Bay Beach with or without a punch!
Just saw kaugan's post and it is exactly right. I singled out Shoals Bay as I've gotten too old to rope over the cliff into Long Bay and too cheap to take the boat. If you're neither of those, you need to go as it is exactly what your best imagination would have a Caribbean beach look like. And, to make it even better, if you can get there with equipment, it has the best snorkling along the cliffs on either side of the beach that I have ever seen.
7-Mile Beach in GC
7-Mile Beach in Negril, Jamaica
Flamenco Beach in Culebra (off the coast of Puerto Rico)
Trunk Bay in St John
Megans Bay in St Thomas
Jolly Beach in Antigua
Skoop2 knows what he is talking about. Lighthouse beach is the one. 7 mile Cayman was once a nice beach actually only 5.5 miles long. But the developers have ruined it. Condos stacked side by side all along the water. Grace Bay watch out u are next on the developers list. Such a shame no gov'ts like 2 make protected parks so future generations can enjoy the gin like waters and pink sands.
