Please help me plan a trip for my Mom :-)

My Mother is 72 and has really wants a luxury trip to JA. I'd like to make that happen. We've been to the island to do some outreach stuff, but really want to relax and enjoy the beauty this time around by staying at an All Inclusive Resort. I have a few limitations and am hoping that you well seasoned travelers can assist me!

Adults only - Love children, just not for this vacay!
Rather stay in Montego Bay - So that the travel isn't far from the airport.
Three adults traveling - I'm bringing her long time friend along as well.
We can stay for Four nights that can include the weekend - Gotta bring home the bacon!
Clean, modern room preferred - Can waiver on the modern, please not the clean!
Here's the doozy...$1,000 per person...INCLUDING Airfare! They are Senior Citizens on a fixed budget, so I'm going the funding solo (argh!).

I'm hoping you'll can help!

Where are you traveling from? Flights can have a big impact on the budget.

When are you traveling? Also another huge impact.

At that price, you might have no choice but Dominican Republic or Cozumel, Mexico.

If you can stretch your budget, want luxury....my colleague just got back from the Ritz Carlton, Montego Bay, and LOVED it. It was All-Inclusive.

Also, with airfares, you'll need to increase your budget...taxes, surcharges, TSA surcharges, etc)...airfares are crazy these days.....

With your budget you should look for a hotel/air package deal. Check with some of the large travel agencies or the vacation section of the airline (e.g., www.aavacations.com).

You didn't say when you are traveling or from where and as others have said those two factors can have a major impact on price.

I doubt you'll get luxury at that price but you can probably find something nice. I looked at www.cheapcaribbean and found Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort, an all-inclusive, adults-only in Jamaica. It's in Ocho Rios, however, and not Montego Bay. I can't endorse cheapcaribbean nor Jewel Dunn's since I've never used either of them but I thought I'd give those as an example of a possibility for you to explore. Jewel Dunn's gets good reviews on Trip Advisor and could meet your budget depending on your location.

As others have already mentioned we need to know your home/departure airport and time of year you are traveling to make appropriate suggestions.

But basically long story short $1000 per person isn't going to get you "a luxury trip" even if you just go for 4 days.

Hi there!

Thank you'll for your replies. I'm leaving from Newport News Virginia (I know...expensive to fly from here) and looking to travel in mid to late October. I realize I'm going to have to bump my budget up a bit (eeeeeek...it'll be worth it!). I guilted...I mean convinced my siste to kick in a few extra dollars. I'm up to $1,500 per person (I know...not a big jump).

I'm wondering if I should expand the locale so that I don't have to skimp on the idea of luxury. She'd love Jamaica, but I think I can sell her on an equally warm vacation spot with nice clear water. Direct me as you see fit!

Thank you so much!

Hi Sharon,

www.cheapcarribean looks almost too good to be true! Thanks bunches for suggesting that site. I'm going to do a bit more research and see if that may be the answer to my little prayers!

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to assist!
