Petit St Vincent - beach or cliff cottage?

We are planning our honeymoon to PSV in late April/early May 2000. We have read up on PSV and both the beach and cliff cottages sound great. Can someone tell us pros and cons and what their preference is? Thanks in advance.

Ashley & Mark:

PSV is a great choice for your honeymoon. It is so beautiful and serene. I have stayed in both the cottages on the bluff and beach, and loved them both. The ones on the bluff are a little more isolated than those on the beach - which can be very good - and they have a great view. On the other hand, it was extremely nice to have your cottage so close to the beach. One piece of advice, if you stay in a beachside cottage, try to get one of the ones that is set apart from the others. Have fun! Merve.

I would always pick the one with the most breeze and view. These are the things we love. We are water people otherwise not beach people as we avoid full sun which is bad for most things. Isolation is what PSV is all about and you will the most off the beach. This is not a place to meet people.

We stayed in a hillside cottage which was quite nice but a bit of a walk from the beach. However, many of he beachside cottages are on the winward side of the island and the wind can be quite strong there. Also many of the beach cottages are not as private with people walking by as opposed to the ones up on the hillside which are totally isolated, many with great views. If you go beachside try to get one that doesn't face the winward beach but i would recommend the hillside ones for the seclusion, serenity and views. We had to hike a bit to the beach, but with all the good food we probably needed the exercise. (or you can signal and they will pick you up and take you in one of the little jeeps) Also many times when we were walking, one of the staff would stop in the jeep and take us wherever we were going.
have a great time.

I also vote for hillside & in every other instance of resorts I have visited I would normally say beachfront. The majority of the cottages are on the windward side of the island. We had #5 which was private, only 1/2 way up the bluff & yet only a minute or two down to the beach. We thought it was perfect. #18 has a private slice of beach, but the furtherest from activities etc. You really can't go wrong.
