Opinions on La Luna on Grenada?

Am considering a vacation there this March. We usually go to St. John (and love it), but feel like we should branch out. Important to us: soft sand beach, clear & calm water, good food, quiet, clean, peaceful. Not important: nightlife, shopping. We would like to have access to a small town to explore. Is La Luna very remote? Any info is appreciated.

Good friends of mine stayed there in July.
They really liked it..
Their room was beautiful..beach was nice. They said the food was not that great but there were plenty of good restaurants around. They said the grounds were still being planted so there was some dirt piles but all in all they had a great time and convinced me to take a trip there in the future.
It was featured on E! a couple of months ago and there web site is very well done ...

Hello, I just booked my September honeymoon at LaLuna - any one else have any advice for us? We opted for the upgrade to the deluxe beach cottage. Is it really unsafe to troll around the island?

And has anyone heard of drinking water being an issue on Grenada?

LaLuna is on a lovely stretch of beach with only one other restaurant on that beach. It is very quiet and serence. The water is clean and calm but you need to know that Grenada water is clear just not "gin clear" because of the rainforest runoff. We visit Grenada every year because we are also not into nightlife and shopping though you should not miss the steel pans at the Boatyard and Flamboyant and a visit to the Saturday market. St George's is a lovely town to explore with hilly, cobbled streets, local art shops, interesting architecture and good local food. La Luna is just a very short cab ride from town.

Re: Drinking water in Grenada

The drinking water at the hotels should be fine. I've drunk alot of it and never had a problem. It would be wise to ask at your hotel if you are concerned. I know that the Flamboyant Hotel uses their own reverse osmosis filtration system, and Grand View Inn has their water trucked in and stored in large tanks. The water pressure at Grand View Inn is another matter though...

dana ... we have never felt "unsafe" in Grenada -- we always use our jeep to explore all over this very friendly island! gina -- last April the grounds at LaLuna were still "under construction" but were lovely. The cottages spill down the hillside to the water and I believe they were doing losts of planting along the walkways. We had drinks at the bar and it was very pretty and romantic -- even in the daytime.

Thanks for all of the great advice and by all means please keep it coming. We can't wait until our honeymoon. We're wondering where we can go for a day to get some spa treatments. Any suggestions?? Do the other hotels with spas have day packages?
