Kid and Parent friendly suggestions in the Bahamas?
Hi,
My wife and I are planning a much needed vacation with our 3 yo son. The Bahamas seems like a nice option in March but we are curious to hear other's experiences at that time of the year. We are interested in trying to find a villa or suite where our son can have his own space but don't want to spend a fortune either. Any tips on places to consider?
Thanks!

I would take a look at the Abacos or Eleuthera as options for the Bahamas. There is a good pool of rental houses in both areas. A good starting point in the Abacos would be Elbow or Great Guana Cay.
We personally prefer May/June and would consider the October/November time frame for the Bahamas. Hopefully someone can contribute with their March experience.

I totally agree with RobertoB. Bahamas weather is similar to Florida, so many Northerners find it warm enough to swim and sun, but as a Floridian, I want it toasty, so we go May thru late October.
The villas on Abaco and especially Eleuthera can be very reasonable in price. Abaco is more for boaters, whereas Eleuthera has "100 Elusive Beaches" (requires a rental car). If you cannot change your dates, try looking at BVI or USVI - warmer weather there, and many villas. However, March is high season, so I think you may find prices to be a bit high. We have rented a villa on Tortola that is adorable and reasonable, they do not have a website, but if you are interested, let me know and I will post their rental ad (from Caribbean Travel & Life Magazine).

I would also recommend looking into villas on Eleuthera. Many villas on the beach in varying price ranges to choose from. Its a very quiet island with amazing beaches. We stayed with our family at "on the rocks" this nov. I posted a trip report recently on this forum. Its our new favorite caribbean island.
