Hi Laura, its nice to see some planning on this forum!
I have been to Cap Juluca and Anguilla many times. It is a unique hotel and wonderful for a honeymoon. The whole island has excellent dining and beautiful beaches.
I have also been to Jumby Bay a few times and love it too. They are both entirely different and both would be a great honeymoon location. Jumby has a West Indian feel and more like a private club. You do not have all the wonderful restaurants, but the hotel cuisine has greatly improved and now has very good food.
Never been to Parrot Cay but I have heard nice things about it.
The best spot between Jumby and CJ is more of a personal choice but no wrong choice or bad spot!

Thanks for the comments! I have been to Cap Juluca this past April and have not been to either of the other two...

Have heard only good things about Jumby since Elegant Resorts took it over including much improved cuisine and return to a/i with Elegant Resorts. Depending on the time of year, Parrot Cay if in the winter months may be a bit too chilly at least for me. I would definately opt for the beachfront rooms rather than in the main building. Have heard very mixed reviews from there including an outrageously priced wine list and other problems but the spa services are supposed to be wonderful. Cap Juluca feels more "intimate" than does Jumby (alto I did love Pond Bay House) at Jumby and rooms are more beachfront at Cap. The beaches at Jumby are spectacular as are the ones on Anguilla and Cap! Penny points out a real advantage to Anguilla with the option of so many good places to eat. I know many people opt to combine some time at both Cap and Jumby for a holiday! I much prefered Anguilla than being on Antigua which we toured for a day or so.

Jumby Bay is overpriced and overrated. You are basically stuck on a small island with a fair amount of overhead air traffic. Cap Juluca would be my choice because of the proximity to other fine restaurants, the gorgeous beaches, the peace and quiet, the proximity to St. Martin for a chic day trip.

Didn't feel "stuck" at Jumby at all. The boat ran regularly between Long Island and the main island. In fact, thankfully, since we were there last when it was a "RockResort," we dined out almost every nite 'cause the food was awful! Thankfully the meal plan was an option at that time! It is a wonderful retreat and just breathtakingly beautiful (but I think Cap was "prettier" in some ways). There is one veiw of the large satellite dish from the beach and one large plane would depart daily overhead but the airport is opposite and you do get a few planes taking off. Other than the big (it was either Brtish Airways or Air France) jumbo jet, the planes were a non-issue.

Karen, normally I would agree with you but I thought that Jumby Bay was an outrageous example of how high prices for a guarantee of "exclusivity" was really not worth it.

We were in Jumby Bay the end of March beginning of April. It was our 3rd short trip combining CJ and Jumby. i never felt stuck on the island, more like who wants to leave!! The planes were never a problem-not that many.
The new management has improved the variety of meals, included more entertainment and another barbeque night. It is an upscale all incusive and a bargain compared to Caneel Bay!

Laura-I enjoy the beach at Cap Juluca and Jumby. I love all the beaches you can visit on Anguilla, and Cove Bay right nest door to CJ. The rooms are very different -the marble and glass, and wonderful bathromms at CJ. The many restaurants and beach front dining all over Anguilla. Jumby has its bikes, and paths, herds of sheep etc. We stay in a junior suite! Must check out the Pond House next time.
Karen you made me laugh about the satellite dish-hey they have good reading lamps! I also like the personal stationary and yes CD player!Laura I hope this helps!

chuckle - I see my reputation preceeds me! Give me a good reading lite anytime and I is a happy camper! LOL
Remembering the rack rates, Belinda, I question the value also - one reason we weren't rushing back! But then, our week at PSV ran about the same including air, etc and I found that way over priced and overrated. I sure would head back to Jumby rather than PSV! But Jumby didn't have the same feeling of "seclusion" but far outranked it in every way except for the accomodations themselves if you happened to be assigned a better cottage! All things are relative! And the fingers are crossed tightly that Cap will still be my destination in Decmeber - but there are much bigger, greater issues and difficulties to think about now!

Lara I was there two years ago last April. But I did feel stuck because although it may be easy to come and go, it's a long expensive taxi ride to St. John's and other parts of the island.

One crevat is that it was expensive to trek 'cross island, you are right. But after the first nite out to dinner at LeBiestro, we hooked up with a great taxi driver who was "ours" for the week. His rate was half of the rate charged by taxis arranged by the desk at Jumby! We learned the first nite after paying double to get there than we did going back! Frankly, we did a day on Antigua and couldn't wait to get back to our spot! I didn't care for St. John's, got some great pix of English Harbour and stopped at one of the markets for some "goodies." Overall, we thought that a waste of a good beach day!
