Dear Cheryl,

Which part of the island are you visiting? The north coast can be a little cooler than the south, but it is unlikely to go below about 85 deg at either coast.

If this is your first trip go with an open mind and I'm sure you will enjoy it. We have been to many places in Cuba so if you would like moree info please feel free to e-mail me.

Enjoy your trip
Kathy

message:

I have never been to Varadero, but I've heard the beaches are awesome. The weather there at that time will probably be between 80 or 90.

The only reason we don't go there is because of the crowds. I think Varadero has a more exciting night-life than we would like but of course this is matter of personal preference. We prefer Guardalavaca which also has lovely beaches and some nice hotels.

We plan to go there next Feb. to Sol rio de oro, a new hotel which is supposed to be very good.

Hope this will help

Kathy

We were in Veradera last Feb/early March and the weather was great. A bit breezy at times, but very pleasant. A word of caution. Don't stay at the Superclubs Puntarena! The food that they serve is dog food at best. Have you ever had lumpy pancakes deepfried in coconut oil? How about cup up hot dogs covered with ketchup served over macaroni? My wife and I lost weight when we were there. I'd go back to Cuba tomorrow, but never to the same place as last time!

Cheryl:

My wife & I were to the SuperClubs Club Varadero (now Breezes Varadero) twice (Oct/98 & Mar/99), and would recommend it highly. You may want to bring a light sweater for the evenings as it can get a little breezy, but it's not cold. The hotel is excellent in all regards, and the staff is excellent - very kind, attentive & genuine. You'll love it. Send me an e-mail if you have any other questions I can help you with.

Tim

Hello anyone out there who has been to either the Rio de Mares or Rio de Luna on Playa Esmerald beach in the Guardalavaca/Holguin area - we are also looking at the newer Melia Rio de Oro which is on the same beach. Does anyone know anything about this resort or have they stayed there - can we assume that it's close to these other two Melia resorts??
Cheryl, there are times in Feb.when Cuba gets "Nortenos", cold weather from the north. This brings the daytime temperatures into the low 70's for two or three days. Can you live with that? Then it's back to 82 or 83. I agree with the person who loves Guardalavaca.Enjoy your trip to Cuba.
