Ideas for a beach vacation for a family of six?

I am struggling to find a resort that will accomodate my family of 6 in one space. I will be travelling with my husband and our four kids, ages 4, 5, 6, and 7 and would like someplace in the Carribean or Mexico where we can all stay in a room/villa within a resort and not have to use adjoining rooms. All Inclusive would be awesome too. We've been to Beaches in Turks and Caicos and it was great for the kids but an overall awful experience so we will definately not be doing Beaches again. We're open to anything in the US too, other than Hawaii. Our children don't mind flying for a few hours but we all get antsy after 5 or so hours.

We love snorkeling, playing on the sand, pools (kids love the sand and snorkeling but prefer to swim in a pool most of the day), and good food. Nothing extraordinary.

We are planning on going at the end of August but are open to going almost any week of summer.

Any advice or suggestions? Thank you!

Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda (BVI's) has "on resort" villas that will accomodate 6 and they also have an "all inclusive/meal plan option) BUT it is going to be very pricey. There are also plenty of rental villas on Virgin Gorda that will accomodate you but they are not associated with any resorts.

I believe the St. Kitts Marriott has "Garden Villas" that can accomodate a family your size and they too have an All Inclusive" option.

In the Bahamas, check out Cape Santa Maria Resort or Stella Maris Resort (both on Long Island) as they may be able to accomodate your group.

Depending on the ages of your kids, you might also consider an all-inclusive sail boat charter. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have

as flight time is a big issue - where are you flying from?
if jamaica is in the running look at: http://www.tryallclub.com/
and their villas page: http://www.tryallvillas.com/
i'm almost positive there is another similiar option on jamaica but i can't think of it.

if you will consider a stand alone villa there are great options on provo (some on grace bay beach or with kids your age group over on sopadilla or taylor bay beach - as i assume you did not venture over, these are both shallow [taylor extremely for 100yds out] lovely beaches with a few villas - you can watch your kids end to end on these beaches as both are short) or along the riviera maya coast south of cancun. also many houses available on jamaica or barbados that come with full staff including cook and a pool. on barbados you could expect your house to be beachfront as well as pool. look on gibbs beach or mullins for nice swimming and some snorkeling.

Grand Cayman is a great island with many condo options. It has the most beautiful waters and great snorkeling. Food is good.
Aruba Marriott has timeshares for rent and they have many pools and pools with swim up bars. Snorkeling is so-so. Food is good.
The Atlantis in the bahamas is all about the pools. Rooms are pricey, food was pretty good. Think vegas on the beach. It is over the top, but we had a good time.Lots of pools/slides.

In the Dominican Republic, We stayed at Casa de Campo, in our friends' golf villa. It has a private beach w/snorkeling and beach attendants (free use), a nice clubhouse, gorgeous hotel, three golf courses, polo grounds, upscale shopping nearby. Very nice.

I think my friends rent theirs for $500/night, which includes a housekeeper during the days to make beds, prepare meals. Theirs has three bedrooms and three baths, beautiful open air living room and dining room, plus beautifully landscaped yard with a large jetted pool (maybe 12x12?) Try VRBO to find availabilities.
