Impossible to answer that question without knowing more about YOU and what is included in your All-Inclusive package.
For example, do you plan on venturing "off-resort" for any "non-included" excursions or acivities? How much shopping do you plan on doing? If you do venture off-resort what is your perferred mode of travel - taxi, rental car??? Do you want to experience an active night life off resort? What is your "normal" spending style??? Do you use credit cards for your purchases or are you strickly a cash paying customer? The point is there are lots of variables and no set answer. Some people can get along fine on say $50US per day others need $100's or, if you are someone with a big trust fund, maybe even $1,000's per day.
When in doubt follow the old adage of Caribbean travel - "Take less clothes, bring more money"!!!!!

When we take 1 week AI vacations we usually take 1,000 cash for shopping, eating/drinking off property, tranportation and incidentials. I try to book all tours and excursions on-line before leaving with a credit card and pay off before we go. If we must book excursions/tours when we get there then I'll take another $500. I always have an iteniary so we know what to expect, but have a little padding for things that come up. I also take 1 credit card for emergencies.
What hotel did you pick as we are researching an AI trip to Barbados for in the future?

your ATM card is a great choice. i hate carrying around huge amounts of cash (over $500 for me. however, now i'm thinking i need to travel with one of those trust funders...), but you can get more cash using atm machines almost anywhere.

It depends what you plan to do as the previous posters said. Depending on the island, the length of the trip and what we plan to do (research is key), we bring from $1,000 and up in cash. We always bring a couple of credit cards just in case. I will recommend that you bring some small bills for tips or small purchases. I always stop at my bank before a trip to get $1 and $5 bills. Have a great trip.
