Hello. I am trying to book a last minute trip to the Caribbean. We really like long "walking" beaches, a few things to do, mostly older adults, and good food. Cost is an issue this year, so looking for something "reasonably" priced. Can anyone help me make up my mind between the following best deals? The Grenadian by Rex in Grenada, Ports of Call in Turks or Camino Real in Huatulco? Thanks!

your questions are too general! "reasonable" means nothing to us without a figure, because everyone's definition is different.

Overall, best long walking beach in the world is at Turks and Caicos, but last minute mostly sold out until April. (I know, I own a villa, and everyone is scrambling for a place to stay) there are a few condos left, but again need price range

Grenada is a cheaper destination, beaches are more in coves instead of long walking ones (all hilly islands tend to be similar)

Never been to Huatulco, but overall Mexico is one of the cheapest destinations.

Mexico has long beaches, as does Dominican Republic, and they're the cheapest "reasonable" places to visit, but quality of long beach is better at TCI

Your 3 choices are completely different from each other, and completely different price points

In general I can say Turks and Caicos has what you want, but expensive, and therefore the question

Weather can affect the time of year and therefore the question

PS if by last minute you mean this month thru March, TCI is sold out. Why I asked for time period

Thank you blamona. I appreciate your reply. From Canada there are a couple of tour operators that offer "packages" to TCI, Grenada, and Mexico, and there is still some availability for Feb. You are right, however, the three places I mentioned are very different! And my questions were vague - maybe I was looking for someone to "make up my mind" for me! I am going to end of going with the one that still has availability and just enjoy it! Thanks.

I have been to the T&C a number of times.

I agree that Grace Bay is one of the truly great beaches for long walks. My husband is a walker and he rates it Number 1. It is also a great swimming beach - sandy bottom, generally waves are not high, gorgeous water.
Disadvantages: As blamona has pointed out it IS expensive - restaurants and beachfront hotels especially. A package deal (hotel + airfare) would be the way to go. Ports of Call is not directly on the beach but it is only a short walk away. Also because it is too the north of most other islands you may find the water in January/February may not be as warm as you would like. It does not bother me (but I used to swim in Georgian Bay regularly).

Grenada - I have only been there as a day-tripper on a cruise ship. We liked it. The beach we were on - Grand Anse is actually reasonably long and good for walking. The island is more scenic and lush than Provo (T&C)

Huatulco - never been - so I cannot comment
