Couples Ocho vs. Couples Negril vs. Sandals Bahamas

My fiancee and I are wanting to go to an all-inclusive in April/May 2000 for our honeymoon and are having trouble deciding which is the best place for us. We are in our late 20's, want to relax but have the opportunity to party some nights. Safety and service are very important to us. Any advice from your experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Barley,

I am in the same boat myself. My fiance and I are debating between Couples Ocho and Sandals. And we also are going in May 2000. After speaking with some travel agents I think Couples is somewhat more relaxing and romantic then Sandals. But I be interested in hearing anyone's thoughts or opinons also!

Best of luck to you!!
Well we just booked our trip to Couples Ochos Rios after pouring through reviews. Couples Ochos just seems like the better value and a good relaxing fit for us. Let me know if you have any questions!

Sandals is a *tiny* more upbeat than couples. We went to Sandals for our honeymoon in May, and will be going to Couples this may for our anniversary. We went with couples Negril because of price - and you get a couple more things for your dollar - they run you into town for shopping and to Rick's Cafe for free - Sandals charges for any off-resort excursions. Otherwise, Either Sandals or Couples is great. BUT- I would take Negril over Ochi anytime. There is no comparison - the beach at Negril is WONDERFUL. And the vendors are more laid back. Just my 2 cents!

I've never been to Sandals but two years ago my wife and I stayed to Couples in Ochos Rios and I can't say anything bad about it. Unfortunately, El Nino spoiled our weather but the organization was a class act from the time we got off our plane to the time we left. The staff was great -- they have a lot of fun, young people who run the activities (if you want to participate). The facilities are amazingly clean and new, considering they say they are the oldest all-inclusive in Jamaica. The food at the restaurants was out of this world and you could go casual or dress up any night you wanted, since they had five restaurants of all different types. As far as the romance factor, the beauty of the place is amazing. It really looks like the brochure/web site pictures. It's not huge, but it's big enough to have room to room and still feel cozy. The drinks run freely and there are enough jacuzzi's around to accomidate just about everyone. It really was a completely stress-free vacation and considering it rained 5 and 1/2 of the 7 days we were there, it's amazing that we still had a great time. (It was our honeymoon.) I would recommend this place to ANYONE!!
Jeff

I JUST GOT BACK FROM COUPLES IN OCHO RIOS DEC 5 AND I HAD THE GREATEST TIME OF MY LIFE. I GOT MARRIED AT THE RESORT AND IT WAS GREAT. THE STAFF IS UNBELIEVABLE AND THE FOOD IS EVEN BETTER.COUPLES IS A FIRST CLASS PLACE WITH LOTS OF ACTIVITIES THAT SANDALS DOES NOT INCLUDE. FOR EXAMPLE HORSEBACK RIDING,TRIP TO DUNNS RIVER,CRUISES ETC WHICH ARE ALL INCLUDED FREE. THIS PLACE WAS THE BEST I AM ALREADY MAKING PLANS TO RETURN IN JUNE. IF YOU HAVE ANY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS E-MAIL ME IF YOU WANT. ME AND MY WIFE ARE IN OUR 20'S AND LIKE TO RELAX AS WELL AS PARTY AND THIS PLACE HAD IT ALL. THERE ARE PEOPLE OF ALL AGE GROUPS.
