Cape Santa Maria Resort on Long Island
Has anybody ever been to Cape Santa Maria Resort on Long Island? I've read about it and it seems like a neat place to try. It's much less expensive than the resorts I'm used to (Petit St. Vincent, Cap Juluca, Peter Island, for example), but that might be a good thing. I wonder what I'll be giving up. I'm also wondering how quiet the beach is. That's important to me.

I hope you get an answer to this, I have wondered the same thing. We've stayed at some of the resorts you mentioned & even more expensive (though worth it!) ones in the South Pacific. CSM has interested me. I requested a brochure & they sent me a video. It looked inviting & hopefully as private as it appeared, though the dining area didn't really look that appealing. Hope you get some first hand answers.

I was waiting for some answers also, since we like the same destinations
I did do a google search and read some very recent rave reviews - I think it was from tripadvisor.com. Take a look!
On google I just typed in "Cape Santa Maria" .

Have ben to Long Island before Cape Santa Maria was built and stayed at Stella Maris. If I went back would definitely stay at Cape Santa Maria. The beach there is the best on the island and totally deserted. The web site looks nice but can't vouch for the accomodations or food. Long Island isn't very developed. The Out Islands are like a step back in time. When we were there there wasn't anything that resembled a town out that way and probably still isn't. Beach reminds me of Meads Bay on Anguilla only a lot longer.

Thanks for these replies. Sounds like we may run into each other some day!
Two quotes that make me just a bit uncertain about CSMR - "great for families" and "fishing resort". Neither of those statements sound like my sort of place to go alone with my wife. Everything else though sounds perfect. Maybe we'll get some more comments.
