Bucuti or Manchebo???
My girlfriend and I will be going to Aruba at the end of April 2008. This will be our first time there and we are going to stay at either Bucuti or Manchebo. We have a room on hold at each place; an oceanview at Manchebo and a gardenview (oceanview not available) at Bucuti.
Both places get good reviews and feedback, but it seems more people have stayed at or recommend Bucuti.
Which would you recommend if you have stayed at one or both places?
Thanks,
Wayne

We stayed at Bucuti twice. The first time had "garden view," which was fine. We could see the ocean if we went to the railing on the balcony and turned our heads a bit. The second time we got upgraded and looked north along the coast. Since the hotels are adjacent to one another, and essentially share the same WONDERFUL stretch of beach, go with price, and use the savings for more pina coladas and fresh fish!

Have stayed at Bucuti and would stay there again. I don't know where Manchebo is, but if it's up in the busy area,I wouldn't want it. The only disappointment with Bucuti is the restaurant there (Pirate's something); it's good for drinks and a snack; not so great for dinner; our breakfast was served in another area (of the Tara suites) and was excellent. However, there are many many good restaurants in Aruba so the Pirate thing wasn't that big a deal.

If the Manchebo is the hotel right next to Bucuti then I'll definitely say Bucuti. Can't remember which hotel that was next to the bucuti but if it is, then you're looking into something that is quite outdated in furnishing with a feel of a motel. The reception/lounge area was ok though. That was back in 2006. Went to a wedding there and there were guests at both hotels. Guests staying at the Manchebo were sorry they didn't choose Bucuti.

Another chime here in voting for the Bucuti
Mainly because you are traveling as a couple and the Bucuti gears itself toward couples and Honeymooners also it doesn't encourage children.
From what I remember after the renovations the rooms in the main hotel now take max. 3 people so that also cuts down on the number of guests at the resort.
The Pirates Nest has a new chef since we stayed there but Pizza Bob's (across the parking lot from Bucuti) was very good.
We stayed in the Tara Suites (twice) so I can't comment on the Main hotel.
Have wonderful time wherever you decide.

We stayed at the Manchebo a few years ago. Think Holiday Inn. It was a little shabby then. The Bucutti is right next door and looked a little more upscale.
If the Manchebo upgraded their rooms, then I'd opt for the Manchebo, it's the same beach anyway. Use the saved money for the great restaurants and gambling!!
As they say, how much time do you spend in the room.
Enjoy
