We're going on a cruise in Dec. that has the same ports. We have been to all but St. Lucia and St. Croix before. On St. Thomas you can get a taxi to Magens Bay for about $5. It's beautiful. You can rent chairs and there is a restaurant. On Antigua we have gone to the beach at the Royal Antiguan and at Runaway Bay--both very nice. In Barbados we went to the beach at the Casuarina Resort and the Boatyard.
You can ask for more beach info on the ship. There are loads of taxis to take you wherever you want to go.

I just spent a week in St. Thomas. They is a lot of shoppong downtown and can be quite congested. I found a small museum, The American-Caribbean Museum, that is off the well beaten tour paths that was really very nice - it had wax figures explaining the history. No tours are allowed in. Its on the first side street off the main shopping area. Everything else is so commercial.

St. Thomas' Charolette Amalie can be crazy-making with the shopping and crowds. You might want to get a taxi or tour at the dock and do the "hilites" of the island, Megan's Bay, Drake's Seat. Mountain Top, etc. Should take an hour or two. After that you can have the driver drop you at Red Hook ferry dock and head to St. John for some wonderful pristine beaches - Hawksnest is the first you come to from Cruz Bay and the easiest (or hike over to Salomon from behind the Nat'l Park Service Hdqts.- but it is "unofficial" c/o). Walk over to Mongoose Deli first, get some sandwiches and head to the beach! Taxis are everywhere - coming back, you just wave one down or arrange for your driver to pick you up! Much better than Trunk where everyone goes! Or you can tour St. John the same as you did on St. Thomas. Or if that is too much adventure, head to other beaches than Megan's which will probably be crammed with cruisers like you. Sapphire, Secret Harbour (nice lunch at Blue Moon Cafe there and good snorkling) - just a couple of the lovely beaches! People like to stop at Coki where the fish are the attraction (be sure to take some dog biscuits - they love 'em!!)but it will be more crowded than the others. Or arrange for a charter sail to take you to some beaches that are unaccessable by land - either for a full day or half day. That way you can enjoy the "real" Virgin Isles and not get caught up in the shopping melee and commericialism of Town!! But if you do, you might want to include Cuzzin's on Back Street as a lunch stop!

Silvia,
I think I'm going on your exact same cruise in march, on the Celebrity galaxy. Same question from everyone out there. What's the can't miss things to do on each island -St.Thomas, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Croix, and Barbados. How was your cruise?

Was on the Galaxy in Dec. We usually just take a taxi to a beach on the islands. On St. Lucia we took the ship's land/sea excursion. It was great. Wonderful way to see the island and great fun --especially the catamaran ride back. You'll love the Galaxy.
