Bermuda if you're not into beach or golf?
Although my husband loves to golf, are there other things to do in Bermuda besides golfing or laying in the sun? I have fair skin so need to be careful with too much exposure. We're considering a cruise to Bermuda from New York on 9/1/04. Neither one of us have ever been there. Thank you.

I was there for 4 days this past January. For the 4 days we had planty to do. We explored Hamilton, ST. Georges, and the Dockyards, and just relaxed. Those things, in addition to everything on the cruise would probably keep me happy for the duration of the cruise. Keep in mind that we went to relax so each of our explorations weren't a full day- though dockyards came close. In short, I thought it was a beautiful place and would definitely go back. It doesn't have a happening night life (though we weren't looking- perhaps it was there), but for history lessons and relaxing and a beautiful location it's one of my favorites!

I happily wandered around Bermuda for five days and only spent two hours on a beach.
Tea at the lighthouse, shopping at the dockyards, history in St. George's, and riding the buses and ferries all around made for a lovely and relaxing vacation.

I have been to Bermuda numerous times and it is due to the fact that it's allure and beauty is intoxicating and also because we are not beach bums (just for unwinding later in the day). If you go to Bermuda.com and then to sightseeing, that will give you an idea of things to do. There are numerous galleries, pubs/restaurants, shops and things like crystal caves, walking trails - I could go on and on. If you're game, you can rent scooters (we always get a double-seater) but if you're not into that, the bus and ferry system is great (I love hopping all over the island by ferry). Give it a try, I can't imagine how you could be disappointed.

It's a long story, but in 10 cruises have not been to a beach once...lol.. BUT St. George is lovely to explore with the little cobblestoned streets, shops, the church...There are the Crystal Caves, Perfume and Glass Factories a few hundred feed from each other and of course the infamous Swizzle Inn....which is a must even for this senior.. Hamilton has shops and buses to the Botanical Gardens... and The Dockyard which has now been completely renovated has shops, galleries and pubs.. Icould go on (almost forgot Gibbs Lighthouse) and on and in all the years we have gone we haven't seen it all..and not a beach tossed in for a swim.. Oh yes.. there is a Discovery Museum which is new and an Aquararium/Zoo....When we first went to theAquarum Zoo we weren't pleased, but people tell me it's improved..
