AT&T Cell Service in St. Maarten?

Hello, I will be going to St Maarten in Nov 2007 and was wondering if my cell phone will work there? I have AT&T as my provider and have used it in Barbados, Bermuda and the Bahamas without difficulty. Has anyone ever used their AT&T phone in St Maarten?

Thanks

St. Maarten has GSM phone service, so I don't think it will be a problem.

What you need to do is to check with AT&T. The web site lists all places where they have roaming agreements.

I agree. Check with AT&T. They will be able to tell you.
I do know that the roaming rates are fairly expensive.
You can rent a phone on the island very cheaply from Sharon Harris. Many of our visitors use her service and are quite happy with her.
this is her web site.

Thanks for the info, I checked with AT&T and according to the website, I should be able to use my phone. What's interesting is that I should also have coverage in Jamaica, but I have never been able to use my phone there.

As long as roaming is enabled on your account, your phone should work there. Very important! The carrier(s) in St Martin use the 900 band, and one of the cariers in Jamaica also use the 900 band. So, make sure your phone has that band. The AT&T branded tribands or dual bands do not have that band. What kind of phone do you have?

My AT&T phone worked in Jamaica when I visited ther last year, and in St. Marteen when I visited there a few months ago.

Thanks for the info, I have the Palm Treo 680, and I think it suppose to support all band-widths so I was hoping it will work in St Maarten.
