Aruba night life suggestions

My husband will be leaving for my much anticipated trip to Aruba this Monday. YEAH!! This is my 3rd trip to Aruba. My question is are there any suggestions for night life anywhere on the island? We are in our 50's middle ages so not looking for anything wild or where a bunch of kids would go, but just a nice music with a bar, maybe some dancing. any suggestions would be welcome. We have never been able to find out where to go for a night spot. Thanks for any suggestions at this late date.

Moomba attracts a much younger crowd. They blast out really loud music until at least 1:00AM. Unfortunately, we were just north of Moomba at Marriot Ocean Club on our most recent trip to Aruba and the constant noise....Boom! Boom! Boom!.... from Moomba made us crazy. And, there is nothing that Marriot can do about it.

Where are you staying? Why not call the concierge & ask for some recs. Or, just ask when you get there.

Have fun!

I have returned from Aruba. I did try the Kuku bus looked like fun. It was not running for several days due to the holiday schedule. We did eat dinner and stay at Moomba Beach. The band was a quiet one that night. At least for dinner. The ambiance is great at Moomba Beach. Food was o.k. I have had better---Sopraanos Bar. ahhh maybe next time!! I will be back. I love Aruba!!! I will not go in December again. Monsoon rains for 2 days. Who says it never rains in Aruba! The locals say the weather is changing and they are seeing more rain in December then usual.

Diann24, is the Kuku bus still having dinner at that fancy house before the bar hopping? The worst food ever. Were did you stay? I've been wanting to return to Aruba for several years now and it's never been the time plus it's just so expensive compared to other destinations.

KVR,

She mentioned the name but I forgot we never went due to the holidays. Yes they do dinner prior to the bar hopping. There seems to be another one like that tour as well. We stayed at La Cabana on a friends timeshare exchange. If you go on some sites you can rent a timeshare there or elsewhere sometimes not to $$$ especially off season. (mid-April) I see them on redweek.com Yes I agree Aruba is high. La Cabana is not the ritz for sure but the beach is nice across the street. It is fun place---not so bad and a great happy hour every day. Nice pool and the rooms have all been renovated.

I looked up my prior trip report and it was the Lee House. The other bar hopping tour is the Banana Bus,w2hich I think I would try next time.

I noticed that the LaCabana has changed names again. Wasn't it the Aruban and now the Tropicana? It's a huge complex. I think I would prefer Palm Beach closer to the restaurants, bars and shopping. I am looking at the Brickell Bay Beach Club. Also across the street from the beach. After so many AI trips to Mexico, it's just so hard to spend the money on Aruba, though we really enjoyed our prior trip and want to go back.

KVR,

The Tropicana sits behind La Cabana. They are not associated in any way. La Cabana is still La Cabana. There is a bus that runs frequently that takes you to the hotel district. We rent a car so it is not a problem to go down there. The beaches down there are far more crowded, and not as large. The Holiday Inn might not be a bad price. The other ones are very $$$ I know. I like Mexico and have been many times but however I always, get the revenge thing once I come home. not pleasant--never fails!! UGH!! No matter how careful I am--I never experience that in the caribbean islands.

We stayed at the HI last time on thier AI plan. Would not stay there again especially in an August. Ton of kids running around. I'm more about the pool than the beach anyway. We only went to the HI beach once at sunset to take some pictures. Didn't want to get up at 7am to get a chair with shade. We've been going to Mexico over the last 10 years and never had any tummy trouble but once on our second trip. We learned not to eat from street vendors.

The Brickell seems to have a really nice pool area and breakfast is included at Tomatoe Charlies. The location appears to be in the middle of everything, which is a plus for us. If I can find an air and hotel package for less than $3,000 we will probably go. Getting there on either AA or Continental is the real challange. It's the only 2 carriers we can use and their flight schedules and prices are really bad.

I'm so sorry that the rain spoiled part of the trip!
