A very informative site!
The most informative site for Cuba is the Lonley Planets Thorn-tree Message Board. Many of your questions will be answered there. Mind you this site is for the adventure back packer but contains much info on how to get to Cuba, bus services, casa particulares. For package all inclusive
Canadian tour operators :
1. Sunquest Vacations
2. Air Transat
3. Signature Vacations
There are weekly charter flights from
Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal.
Cubacan flies Direct to Havana from Toronto.
SCREW CUBA!! FIDEL STILL SUCKS!!!
Watch out for postings from the Miami Maifa (cubans). They constantly look for opportunities to dump on Cuba. For good insight on these people watch PBS :The Saving of Elian." they practice the very tactics of oppression of Free speech, difference of opinion etc. that they so constantly criticize Castro for making.
My father is a communist pig and butcher. As long as he runs Cuba, things will never really change. He has victimized our people for far too long. Things will change only after his death! Go to Cuba if you must, but you will only be aiding the oppression of the Cuban people and their lost freedom. No, I do not live in Miami anymore. I will return home to Cuba after my father dies and goes to HELL, and I will work with my countrymen to rebuild our once proud island republic. Go to Cuba later. Things will be better then.
You had a Republic before Castro when Bastista and the Mafia ran the country with full support of the American country. The people went hungry were oppressed and poor, no free education, medical or housing. It was just like any third Free world country today. Now you have hungry people due to the trade embargo fully supported by the American government and the Miami-mafia
who main hope is return them to yesterday where crooks ran the country.
E Armand has just loaded his Big Cuba Website on the Lonley Planet's Thorn Tree. Easy to download just hit the blue letters.
Depending on where you are in the U.S. most people fly to either Toronto or Montreal, and then book a package tour out of Toronto. You need a passport to get into cuba and a tourist card, which is provided by the Tour operator, that you are travelling with. Your passport will not be stamped, so no one will ever know that you have been to Cuba.
For information on Americans travelling to Cuba you can call the Cuban Tourist Board in Toronto Phone number:1-416-234-8181 and 1-416-362-0700. Americans are welcomed in Cuba.
My homeland, Cuba, is a wonderful place where many wonderful people live. There are some good resorts there now. Castro is a no good son of a bitch who has not helped my country or its people. But please go there anyway and enjoy your stay on the island. Your Yankee dollars will help some of my people. They need all the help they can get. You would not want to live in Cuba but you can still enjoy your holiday there.
Thanks to the few of you who actually answered my question. I did not actually try to start a policital thread here. Reason for asking about Cuba is that the costs for us regualar folk is become almost prohibative to enjoy a nice 7 day vacation in the Caribbean.
