All inclusive in Cancun

We stayed at the Omni Resort using an all-inclusive
package two years ago. It was excellent. Service
and accommodations were outstanding as were the
resturants. Facilities (several swimming pools) and
the beach were all superior. We definitely would go
back to the same hotel.

I have stayed at 2 all inclusives there. Club Las Velas is a quiet place up at the northern end of the island, on the lagoon side. It is a nice size for personal attention, access to beach chairs, etc. The meals are good and the pools are lovely. The beach is a little small. However you can take the tourist bus to any big hotel and use their beach (all beaches in Cancun are public). I have also stayed at Royal Solaris and would NOT recommend it. Too crowded, too many rooms, stand in line at 6 AM to get beach towels and deck chairs. We had money stolen out of our room there and there is a time-share pitch that I managed to avoid. The food is only average. The only good thing about Royal Solaris is the beach. My advice is stay at Club Las Velas and walk over to the Quality Hotel Calinda Beach and use their beach on the Caribbean side (it's only 2-3 blocks east of the Club Las Velas).

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Solaris this past April and experienced none of the problems (except polite suggestions to sit through a time-share pitch- which we declined) that the earlier entrant expressed. If you do stay there, stay in the Caribe Tower. It is smaller and a lot prettier. I agree however that the food is average. We would stay there again.

We have tried both all-inclusive and non-inclusive
while in Cancun and if we were to do it again, we
would opt for non. The food is so inexpensive and
there are so many good places to try, there isn't any
reason for being restricted to a nightly buffet.

I agree with not staying at an all-inclusive. Cancun has many,many great restaurants in all price ranges. Why lock yourself into eating all your meals on the property where you are staying? In fact I believe that the quality of food in Cancun is one of the highest in Mexico and the Caribbean. With the exchange rate being as good as it is you can get an excellent dinner for $15.00 U.S. The Continental Villas has a wonderful breakfast buffett for only $7.00. Have a great vacation!!
