Tofino or Ucluelet for a Few Days
We want to revisit the Tofino and Ucluelet area this summer. As I recall they are fairly close together, about 30 minutes or so. Which town would you stay in?

Tofino has more resorts, restaurants, services, while Ucluelet is more rustic. Depends what you want from your trip. The beaches are between the two towns, although there are a couple of nice places near Tofino at Cox Bay on the beach.
We had a weekend stay at Black Rock in Ucluelet and really enjoyed the beautiful hikes along the coastline. Boys went fishing girls did spa day, which was perfect for us, but not necessarily for you.
Had a great meal at Shelter in Tofino.

Here's a link to Parks Canada map of beaches and hiking trails. In Ucluelet there is a short circular trail along the waters edge which takes 45 to an hour if I remember correctly

I don't think that it matters because they are so close together, either one will be OK. Find the accommodation that suits you best and go from there (and there may be more options available closer to Tofino than to Ucluelet because it was a tourist town earlier than Ucluelet, which used to be just a fishing village not that long ago).

If it's not too late? When checking out accommodations keep in mind that some places are on the "wild side" & some are on the sheltered side. If you want to be tranquil, the sheltered side is for you. If you want rocks, surf (or surfing) & the open Pacific, find a place on the wild side.
Enjoy!
