Nova Scotia Decisions
My husband and I, 40 something and active, are planning 7 nights in NS beginning of Aug, arriving and departing from Yarmouth with our car. We'll need to spend the last night in Yarmouth to catch early ship back to Portland ME. That leaves 6 nights and I don't want to jump to a new accomodations every night.

We want to see/do as much as possible without being rushed to next destination. We'd like to get in: sailing, whale watch, hiking, touring seaside towns, fine dining, viewing natural wonders like Bay of Fundy Tides & other things special to NS, beach walking, canoe/kayak & maybe bike.

I'm thinking about accomodations at maybe 3 stops, for 2 nights each stop. Or 2 stops for 3 nights each. Unfortunately I think I've ruled that we will skip Cape Breton this trip and do that on its own on another trip. It sounds amazing but also like we'd need alot of time to spend there if I don't want to rush it.

We are not the small B&B type, & bigger resorts are okay but I don't want to be paying for lots of resort activities that we won't use (like golf), or such a big place that you get lost & don't want to go out and tour the local attractions. Willing to pay for great location, wonderful views and nice accomodations.

From what I've read here, I'm concidering Wolfville area (hotel suggestion?), Halifax Prince George Hotel, and Oak Island Resort. Also thinking about Liscombe Lodge & if so, what part of itinerary should I give up to stay there??? Feel free to provide any opinions & suggestions.

Thank you so much!!

Hi Sarah
Wolfville is very nice, lots of nice old B&B,s only hotel I can think of in the valley would be Old Orchard Inn.You'll probally really enjoy the south shore,Lunenburg-Chester- Mahone bay ect.Oak island rsort is nice but you might want to try White point beach or a little further towards Yarmouth The Quarterdeck beachside villa.
Your correct in leaving Cape Breton for another trip you'd be to rushed. The Prince George willbe very nice also.My wife and I,early 40's,have lived here all our lives and would be glad to answer your questions,so feel free to email me. Hi Sarah
My wife and I can reccomend the Liscomb Lodge . Might be a better use of time to save it for your trip to Cape Breton. It would be closer to the highway takeing you there. If going , would order the plank salmon very good. Also in Cape Brenton is cape smokey ski left runs in the summer WHAT A VIEW and almost across the street from the lift is the laegest sail boat ava for groups whale watching.

Hi -- Your trip sounds great. We are leaving for a trip to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick around the same time. We are staying in a different place every night and suspect you may have made a better choice in this regard. I just wanted to make sure you realized that you can't take the boat from Yarmouth to Portland anymore, the boat no longer runs, the ferry company had a big fight with the city of Portland(a drag for us since we live in Portland). You can either drive back to Maine or take the CAT from Yarmouth to Bar Harbor (which may be what you meant).
