Hotel in Lake Louise
I can't decide whether to stay at the Chateau
Lake Louise, Post Hotel or the Deer Lodge. We will be there for two days. I know the Chateau is expensive, I would like to know whether it is worth the money. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Since you're going to be threre two days, it makes sense to stay at the hotel that made the community famous. You'll have time to really appreicate the place.

If you were coming in late and leaving early, just pick the least expensive. But for two days, stay in the "real" hotel.

You can still visit the others.

BAK

Harriet,
The Post Hotel is the best, Chateau Lake Louise can't hold a candle to it. You can visit the Chateau and do the walks around the lake etc., but I would not stay there. Loads of tour buses. Pushy people, too big, too crowded, too impersonal.
The Post Hotel is total luxury. No tour buses, no crowds, friendly staff and happy guests. Rooms a huge, beds are the best. Wait until you see the bathroom. Gorgeous! If you were the Queen you could not chose a better place. I want to ge back.

Herself is absolutely right. The Post Hotel is fabulous. We had one of the cottages by the creek and just loved. Also, great restaurant. Service is excellent. We walked around the Chateau while we were at the Lake and ate dinner there, but were so glad we chose to stay at the Post. Tons of tourists, buses, etc. The Post was so beautiful and peaceful - our best vacation ever.

Hi:

We just returned from a fabulous trip to BC and Alberta, Christmas, 2000.

We stayed at the Deer Lodge and loved it. Very quiet, roomy, clean. Our boys 7 & 11 did not miss not having a TV in the room for 4 days. We went to the game / TV room and played pool and board games.

Sounds like the Post Hotel is nice however we were very happy at the Deer Lodge.

Dave from Georgia, USA

I've stayed at both the Chateau and the Post Hotel. Definately, I would stay at the Post Hotel. Our room had its own woodburning fireplace and a little sitting area. The restaurant is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. A much nicer ambience than the Chateau.

Also, just behind the Post Hotel, we discovered a restaurant - I can't recall the name. It used to be an old railway stop. Next to it , they have a refurbished dining car from the old CP railroad line. Had dinner there, it was very nice.
