Best route - Sherbrooke to Quebec City

It looks like the fastest route from Sherbrooke to Quebec City is to take Highway 55 to Highway 20 at Drummondville, and then to take 20 to Highway 73 for crossing the St. Lawrence to Quebec City.

But how does it compare, scenery-wise, to these other routes?

(1) Take Highway 112 from Sherbrooke through Thetford Mines to Highway 73 (or 173) at Vallée-Jonction, and then take 73/173 into Quebec City

(2) Get off Highway 55 at Melbourne/Richmond onto Highway 116 and take 116 up through Victoriaville and Plessisville to 73

(3) Get off Highway 20 at Ste-Eulalie onto Highway 155/55, take them to Highway 132 (Route Marie-Victorin), then take 132 to 73

(4) Continue on Highway 55 across to Trois-Rivières and then take Highway 138 (the King's Road/Chemin du Roy) to Quebec City

(5) Take Highway 40 from Trois-Rivières to Quebec City

Highway 20 has to be the most boring road in the province. Anything else is better. 116 isn't great either.

Option #4 look all right. And you'll have a glimpse of the boring 20.

I'm not familiar with the Thetford Mines area but I think it would be a good option.

Avoid 20 or 116. Very boring

Route 112 is not a good choice, but IMHO, most scenic route is Route 108 to Beauceville, then Route 173 to Quebec City.
If you run out of time, once you get to Vallée Jonction, you can always take A-73.

Sorry, I meant to say that 112 is a good choice.

I have made this drive, in late March, with snow all around, and I simply loved the results of my decision to cross the river at Trois Rivieres and then take #138 all the way to Q.C., knowing that if I wanted to pick up the tempo, the bigger highway (#40) was parallel the whole way.

I loved the little towns, each with an elaborate church. I don't know that I even stopped at all between Trois Rivieres and Q.C., but it was a splendid drive!

NW Male,

Since we will be taking 73 when we leave Quebec City, I was wondering how going in via Trois Rivières compared to taking one of the routes to 73/173. Thanks for the feedback.

Since you plan to come back by A-73, Route 138 is a good choice (albeit longer). Nicest part is between Champlain and Donnacona. Deschambault is a very nice village.
