Hello

I will be flying to Calgary and then go to a conference in Banf for 5 days.

Beside going to the Glacier and Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, any other suggestion . I will rent a car but will stay all the time in a hotel in Banf.

You'll be attending a conference for 5 days but how much time will you have for sightseeing and what are your interests.

Where in Banff is the conference? What glacier will you be going to?

It sounds like your time daily will be relatively limited, so you probably can't travel all the way up the Icefields Parkway to Jasper. Perhaps you could go as far as the Columbia Icefields? There are several spots to stop, for spectacular views (e.g. Peyto Lake).
If you like hiking, there are lots of short and long ones. One of the most popular hikes close to Banff is Johnston Canyon.
If you golf, it doesn't get much better than your hotel course; Banff Springs is world famous (Devil's Cauldron - what a view!). It's hard to focus on golf, being surrounded by unbelievably spectacular natural settings, at every turn.

Banff is a small town that has a ton to offer, especially when we are talking about the nature side of things.

The magnificent arrey of shops on the main street will keep ur afternoon busy, the restaurants are fantastic, though I would suggest that you look them up via urbanspoon, as some are mediocre at best.

Go for a relaxing evening at the Banff Hot Springs, and just sit back and gaze at the beauty around you. Hikes in and around Banff are endless, bring a good pair of shoes, bear spray and back pack. Johnston's Canyon is a good one and fairly easy.

Lake Louise would be a 8 hr adventure, make ur way to the Little Beehive - moderate hike with a restaurant at the top of it. Its just something else, there are trails that lead you up there and you should be fine without the pepper spray on this hike.

Otherwise there are lots of excursions; rafting, horseback riding, heli tours, mountain biking that could easily blow through ur 3 days fairly quickly. Lots of rental spots in town if you do require any equipment.

As a last note, go have food in Canmore, it never disappoints.

I enjoyed wandering around Banff, a place I would so like to return to. In the Information Centre there are brochures / guides for different history trails which are worth a look at. Because of time constraints I chose a trail that was mainly around the town - can't check what it was called as all travel info is packed away for shifting.
