I havn't actually stayed there, but my boyfriend is from Miramichi, so I have seen it from the outside. I think it is the nicest hotel in the city. It is directly on the water, infact in the winter, they have a snowmobile garage in the back that you can drive right out on the river. It is pretty new. I think only a few years old.

Just a question though, where are you coming from? Miramichi seems an out of the way stop on the way to Nova Scotia...If you like to fish though, you should stay a few days. The Miramichi river is world famous for fishing.

We are driving across Canada through Quebec City, etc. We thought we would drive the northern coast of NB. Is this a scenic drive or not worth the extra miles? What would be a better option? We are coming in from Quebec through Edmundston and needed some place to stay along the way. We will then head to PEI the next morning. any suggestions? Thanks

I assume you are taking the two lane road that goes through forest/logging areas from Edmunston to Miramichi. We have used this road several times to go from Quebec to Miramichi on the way to PEI. It is easily done in one day and cuts time off of the trip. Beware however that the road is hilly, windy and bumpy (although not like you might find elsewhere). In Miramichi we have stayed at the Country Inn & Suites. The rooms are smallish but quiet, clean, comfortable and reasonable; exactly what you want when all you are going to do is sleep!

The north coast is beautiful. If you do end up taking the Plaster Rock Highway, you might as well have stuck with the Trans Canada Highway. IF you want to take the north shore from Edmonston, You have to go to Campbelton by taking the exit at St Leonard. This is a hilly mountain type road for about 1 1/2 hours. I believe it is highway 11. This will take you all the way to Miramichi via the coast, or once you hit Bathurst you can take highway 8. 8 is just a highway with no senic views. 11 however is very long. You really could spend a few days in NB on the north shore. If you are just planning on driving through, I would just take the Trans Canada, it is much quicker.

If you have the time, I think it is....I am a bit biased being a native New Brunswicker, and having ties in Campbellton, Miramichi area, I do beleive it a beautiful part of the country. I personally believe NB is better than PEI...We have all the scenery with less hype.

You should have a wonderful time!!!
