What did you do with your wedding rings?

We have booked our honeymoon in Tahiti for February 2001. I was just wondering what everyone did with their rings on the
honeymoon. Did you do all acquatic sports with them on? Is it safe to leave it in the rooms? We are staying in the Parkroyal
in Moorea, Kia Ora Village and Sauvage in Rangiroa, the Parkroyal in Tahiti, and Hotel Bora Bora in Bora Bora. My fiance and I are unsure if it is safe to bring rings and leave them in the room when we do water sports. I really don't want to leave mine home considering it is the time to show off your rings, but I also don't want to lose it in the water or have someone steal it in the room. Does anyone have any suggestion
on what to do or what they did?
I will be going in Jan'01 so I haven't actually been there yet, but I believe most of the upper-scale hotels have in-room safes.

Why take them off at all. If they fit properly they should not slip off. I have worn mine for 25 years and don't ever take them off.

Well, I have 2 sets of rings; my wedding band (which I never take off) and my diamond set. I do take off the diamond because frankly, it's worth a lot of money. The fear is not that the ring will fall off, but that the diamond will. Any activity can damage the prongs & cause the diamond to fall out. I know a lady who lost her diamond somewhere in her house because she banged her ring on the vacuum cleaner. I know it doesn't happen often, but it only needs to happen once.

We went to Hawaii on our honeymoon. I find that I never take my rings off. If they slip at all, then you need to have it adjusted. But my husband's hands in the humid weather swelled to the point that I thought his ring finger would fall off from no circulation. He could not wear his ring at all so we just put his ring in my wallet since I always had it with me. But most hotels have in the room safes now that you enter your own private code to lock.

The Moorea Beachcomber has safes in the room. We took off our rings to go snorkeling and put them in the safe. With all the sunscreen on my hands, I was afraid it my slip off. My wife's diamond fell off shortly after we got married. Luckily we found it. So we took the precautions when we snorkeled.
