Renaissance Hotel vs Sydney Marriott

We are planning on visiting Sydney during Christmas. We are trying to decide between the Sydney Marriott and the Renaissance Hotel near Circular Quay. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We had the same debate before our trip last month and chose the Renaissance because of the location near Circular Quay. We were not disappointed. They upgraded us to a concierge level room overlooking the harbor bridge (being Platinum helped). The lounge was closed for the weekend, but we were given complimentary full breakfast buffet in the restaurant. The concierges were helpful in planning our activities and making restaurant reservations. I would definitely stay there again.
The Marriott is not in a bad location either, close to the CBD and Australian Museum. It probably depends on what part of town you want to be in.

Hi

I live in Sydney but went to check out some hotels last week as some relatives are coming over at Xmas and wanted first hand opinions...

We looked at Quay West, Renaissance, the Regent, the Quay Grand, Park Hyatt and the Observatory.

We didnt see the Marriot but if you are thinking of the Renaissance I think yoiu can do better for the money. We thought the rooms and views were far better in the Regent and Quay West for the same price as the Renaissance (other hotels were better that renaissance but more pricey). The Quay West is an all-suite hotel with beautiful kitchens and balconies, which mena syou can cook for yourself if you feel like it. the Renaissance has a whopping great skyscraper in front of it!!!
